HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-OR-1624ORDINANCE #1624 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE #1555, dated _MAY 1961, AND AS AMENDED, DECEMBER 1961 Section 610 (Reference Electrical Code - Chapter 6) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA: 1. FURNACE Shall be on an individual circuit with no other outlet. Conductor size shall be no less than #12 wire with ground. Feed to a switch on furnace at a convenient location for main- tenance. Fusing to be in main panel or at a disconnect near main panel. 2. AUTOMATIC WASHER Install a separate circuit with a grounded receptacle. Conductor shall be no less than #12 wire and fused with no more than a 20 ampere fuse. 3. AIR CONDITIONING Install separate circuit, with grounded receptacle in the case of remote units, and direct connection with disconnect for central units. Conductor on unit demand. 4. METAL TUBING Shall be installed in all schools; indus=tiaA!and institutional buildings. of assembly - either public or provate, size shall be #12 or greater, depending chruches; commercial, Lodges and other places refer to N.F.P.A. #70 ASA - C1 National Electrical Code, 1962 Edition, Article 520-4 Exception #2. (a) For all intent and purpose of the "City Building Code" should read: Where the area intended for public or private assembly has a capacity of 100 persons - Remain- der of exception #2 to remain the same. Capacity shall be based on requirements stated in Section 401, Chapter 4, Part II, of "Buildings Rules & Regular&ohs" of the "Administrative Building Council of Indiana." 5. SPLICES: See Splices - Article 110-14 N.F.P.A. #70 ASA C1 National Electrical Code, 1962 Edition. Conductorsshall be spliced or joined with approved splicing devices, (See definition for pressure connector ), or by brazing, welding or soldering with a fusible metal alloy. Soldered splices shall first be so spliced or joined as to be mechanical and electrically secure without solder and then soldered. All splices and joints and the free ends of conductors shall be covered with an insulation equivalent to that on the conductors. (a) Definition for Pressure Connector: A pressure wire connector is a device which establishes the connection between two or more conductors, or between one or more conductors and a terminal by means of mechanical pressure and without the use of solder. (b) Exception: Screw type wire nut may be used for fixture connections to conductor wire. Passed and adopted by the Common Council this ....... day of , 1964.
