WHEARAS, herebefore the Board of Parks and Recreation
of the Civil City of Jeffersonville and the Board of School Trustees
of the City of Jeffersonville, entered into an agreement whereas the
Board of Parks and Recreation would transfer to the Board of School
Trustees real estate in Memorial Park for construction of Park-View
J unior High and in return therefor the Board of SchoOl Trustees were
to convey to the Board of Parks and Recreation real estate known as
Ingramville School and Port Fulton School, and
WHEREAS, this transaction was accompli, shed but, however,
the Board of School Trustees conveyed said real estate known as the
Port Fulton School, directly to the Civil City of Jeffersonvi!le, rather
than to the Board of Parks and Recreation of the Civil City of Jeffersonville,
and
WHEREAS, the Civil City of, Jeffe,rsonville has been notified of
the desire by the Department of Redevelopment of the City of Jeffersonville
to purchase the real estate known as the Port Fulton School, and
WHEREAS, the Common Council authorized the appointment of th~ ee
appraisers by the Clark Circuit Court to appraise said real estate and,
WHEREAS, three disinterested freeholders of the City of
Jeffersonville were appointed by the Judge of the Clark Circuit Court, which
freeholders were Henry Shannon, Edith Shephered and Guy jackson, and
WHEREAS, said apprraisers have filed with the Court their
appraisal which was as follgws: "We do hereby appraise the just and true
value of the real estate owned by the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and
described as follows, to-wit:
Lot 181 and 182 in the Town of Port Fulton,
now the City of Jeffersonvi!le, Indiana
at a value of $12,000. 00".
WHEREAS, the Department of Redevelopment of the City of
Jeffersonvillq has offered the sum of $12, 500. 00 for the/purchase of
said real estate,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council
of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, the real estate commonly known as
Port Fulton School and doscribed as follows, to-wit: Lot [81 & 182 in
the Town of Port Fulton, now th~ C~ity ·°f..Jeffers°nville' Indiana, should be
conveyed to the Department of Redevelopment of the City of Jeffersonville,
Indiana, and hereby authorize in accordance with the statutes of the State
of Indiana, t~aa~ the Mayor be given the authority to execute said conveyance
to the Department of Redevelopment of the City of [effersonville on behalf
of the Civil City of Jefferso~wlle and that the Mayor's signature be attested
by the City Clerk who shall affix the seal of the City.
