Carl City ¢ierk-Treasurer APPROVED AND SIGNED BY ME THIS QTH OAY OF MAY , 1970. ichard L. Vissin9, m¢~5~I DECLARATION OF POLICY FOR THE WORKABLE PROGRAM CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA It is the intent of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Jefferson- ville, Indiana, that the Workable Program~ as herein presented, be an official plan of action for effectively dealing with the problem of ~lums and blight within the community and to prevent their return, thereby achieving the goal of a decent, safe, and sanitary home for all citizens. It is further determined that this Workable Program be a practical plan by means of which all of the community's resources are marshalled -- its people, its government~ and its financial resources -- in some cases supplementing them with State and Federal assistance for the establishment and preservation of a well planned community with well organized residential neighborhoods of good homes and desirable living environment. Realizing that our community will be only as prosperous and attractive as the people of the community make it, it is the intent of the Mayor and Common Council that this plan for development and improvement be effected through the democratic process, for only when the citizens of a community par- ticipate in the selection of the goals which will shape their environment, and the environment of their children, can they be expected to support the actions necessary to accomplish these goals. The overall objective in adopting this systematic plan of community action for the years 1970-1971 shall be to provide a higher quality and standard of health~ education and welfare, for all citizens of this city so that there will be manifested, both individually and collectively, a sense of pride on the part of the people for the community in which they live and raise their families. To this end, the Mayor and Common Council do pledge themselves with a firm and steadfast resolution to keep and perform the goals and obj~ectives herein set forth.
