CALL TO ORDER t
• Chairperson Freeman welcomed everyone to the meeting and called the
meeting to order at 5:39 p.m.
• The meeting was held in person at Jeffersonville City Hall, 500
Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.

OLD BUSINESS
• Approve the September 8, 2024, meeting minutes.
o Commissioner Semones motioned to approve the minutes.
o Commissioner Zavala seconded.
o The motion to approve September 8, 2024, meeting minutes
passed unanimously.
4 • Art Center Studio Contract (Administrator Wang)
Still working on contracts to include:

• Increasing the community involvement requirement
• Adding language about care of community areas

Commissioner Zavala suggested adding cleaning duties to the
artists' responsibility
• Administrator Wang said we'll be asking for that since there
will not be a cleaning crew next year due to budget cuts
• New Mural for the ont of the Art Center (Administrator Wang)
o Administrator Wang spoke to Joe Autry who will design and
propose a 3D sculpture that will include our logo.
o The all will be painted a solid color
• Roof Update (Administrator Wang)
o Roof is complete
NEW BUSINESS
• Art Mobile (Administrator Wang)
o In the shop because the battery went out for the 2nd time this year
o Administrator Wang has some ideas about the van but will table the
discussion until more Commissioners are present.
o Things to consider:
• How much we use the Art Mobile
• Good turn out for Farmers Market but is easier for instructors
to load-up their cars.
• Option to get a trailer instead and give the van to another
department
• Trailer more sustainable and easier to store
o Commissioner Reed suggesting looking into a Meta Grant
• Front hall of art Center was painted (Administrator Wang)
o Morgan Macgill painted a hummingbird with the JPA logo
o It's welcoming and warm and fits well with the space
• Fright Fair (Administrator Wang)
o Walls painted
o Decor ordered and received
o Set up will happen 10/24 - 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., help needed
o WLKY coming early in the morning for interviews
• Alcove for themed drink
• Food truck demonstration
• 4 vendors
o No YPAS kids; reached out to Providence theater kids and Cool
Mountain
• Budget Cuts (Administrator Wang)

o Will be distributed to Commissioners by end of year
o Commissioners can send ideas to Administrator Wang for 2026
programming for discussion once budget is finalized early next year
o Ideas:
• Team up with Parks
• Pop ups at Falls Landing
• Get High School band/orchestra/Louisville Jazz Society
• Different authors or a poetry night
• Film - branch beyond visual arts
• IUS art department of performance art
• Devil's Advocates (Jeff High acapella group)
• Parkview after school theater club
o Cool Mountain serenade music class in February
• Steamboat Nights recap - artists
o Very successful
o Lots of good feedback
o May not happen next year as it is due to budget cuts
• The Steamboat Museum may host and team up with Parks
and us
• Drop down to one day
• Take idea to City Council for funds
• Upcoming events (Administrator Wang)

• October 22: Starry Night theme
• November 5: Needle felted ornaments
• December 10: Needle felted ornaments
o Fright Fair: October 25, 1-7 p.m.
o Boo Fest: October 27
o Cool Mountain - Six, Teen Edition: November 14 - 16
o Light-up Jeff: November 22 (parade only)
o November 23: hosting 75th birthday for local poet laureate
o Holiday party: December 5
o Shutting down center for two months to clean and reorganize

• Kimberly Freeman Loved Commissioner Zaval's craft club and Steamboat
Nights; Will be thinking of crafty ways for getting around budget cuts
• Noah Aychby
Asked when we can ask questions about budget cuts
Commissioner Wang will disclose details at next meeting
Kitchen remodel: Reached out to 3 contractors. They won't be
available until the beginning of the year Administrator Wang to look
at Habitat Restore, IKEA. Facebook Marketplace for
cabinets/shelving. Commissioner Aychby saw cabinets at Peddlers
Mall. Administrator Wang noted we're using grant money so not
impacted by budget cuts.
• Amy Semones, Co-Chairperson: Steamboat Nights were awesome. Is not
happy with budget cuts and recommends the Commissioners and our
constituents speak up.
• Monica Uhl: Is sad about budget cuts and that ours was cut the heaviest.
Volunteered at the science table during Steamboat Nights and had lots of
fun
• Perla Zavala:
Sad about budget cuts and sad that arts are being cut as they can
be healing.
• Thanked the commission for supporting the craft club (2 Mondays a
month).
o Find out more on Instagram at craftclubjeff.
• Family friendly. all ages 5-7 p.m.
• Commissioner Wang brought the idea of an art library check out kit
back up. Would have ready to go kits and would ask instructors to
film instructional videos.

Commissioner Aychby seconded.
