November 6, 2025
CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting for November 6, 2025, Fire Merit Commission was called to order by
Commissioner McCormick at 6:00 P.M.
ROLL CALL: The roll call was conducted and those present were Commissioners Troy McCormick, Donovan Sims,
Sam Smith, and Missy Gibson-Scully. Commissioner Thomas Spalding was absent.
COMMISSION STAFF:
Fire Merit Commission Counsel Zach Stewart, President Union Brad Tetley, Deputy Fire Chief Jason Sharp and
Stenographer Cindy Seifert
GUESTS:
Court Stenographer Lori Fleeman,Anne Langley and Kyle Patterson
MINUTES: Commissioner Smith made the motion to approve the minutes from October 2, 2025, seconded by
Commissioner Sims, passes on a vote of 4-0.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Commissioner Sims made the motion to approve the Agenda, seconded by
Commissioner Smith, passes on a vote of 4-0.
CLAIMS: None
BUSINESS:
2026 FIRE MERIT MEETING SCHEDULE
Commissioner McCormick made the motion to approve the 2026 Fire Merit Meeting schedule with the only
change being the January meeting from the 15t to the 8`h, seconded by Commissioner Sims, passes on a vote of 4-
0.
HEARING ON PREFERRED CHARGES 2025-D-001
Attorney Stewart advised that the Attorney for the member had an emergency which required him to miss the
meeting. After review of calendars, Monday, November 10, 2025, at 6:00pm, was agreed on reconvening the
hearing.
ATTORNEY REPORT: No Report

REPORT FROM LOCAL 558 UNION: Union President Tetley advised Commissioners that the Fire Union Christmas
Party is December 12, 2025, at 6pm, all are invited.
REPORT ADMINISTRATION: Deputy Chief Sharp thanked the Commission for their efforts to help the department.
FIRE MERIT COMMISSION COMMENTS:
McCormick welcomed Missy Scully to her first in-person meeting.
ADJOURNMENT:
With no further business before the Commission, Commissioner McCormick made the motion to RECESS the
hearing until November 10,2025, and ADJOURN the meeting, seconded by Commissioner Smith, passes on a vote
of 4-0. Meeting adjourned at 6:11 P.M.
