HomeMy WebLinkAboutUpdate to JPD Policy 1019 (BPW approved 9/24/25) Policy Jeffersonville Police Department 1019 Policy Manual Break Periods 1019.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE This policy provides general guidance regarding the availability of break periods. 1019.2 POLICY It is the policy of the Jeffersonville Police Department to provide breakperiods to members of this department in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement. 1019.3 BREAK PERIODS Officers shall remain on-duty and subject to call out during break periods. Call outs during break periods is based on public safety and departmental needs for emergency and non-emergency events that arise. Uniformed patrol officers shall request clearance from the Officer in Charge prior to taking a break period. For approved break periods Uniformed Officers shall inform the Telecommunications Operator of the location of the break period.Uniformed officers shall take their break periods within the City limits unless authorized by the Officer in Charge and shall monitor the police radio. The time spent for the break period shall not exceed 45 minutes or the authorized time allowed. 1019.4 APPROVED LOCATIONS Officers of the Jeffersonville Police Department are approved to workout at the following locations while on-duty: 1. FOP Lodge 100. 2. The Jeffersonville Police Department. 4 3. Any fire station operated by the Jeffersonville Fire Department. 4. An officer's residence which is located within the Jeffersonville city limits. 5. Any other location approved by the Chief of Police or his designee.
