HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-OR-41 ORDINANCE REGARDING LONGEVITY PAY FOR POLICE OFFICERS
AND FIREFIGHTERS IN THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
WHEREAS, it has been the practice of the City of
jeffersonville to pay all police officers and firefighters on
its payroll longevity pay of one percent (1%) of base pay for
each year of service up to a maximum of twenty (20) years in
-~-add~tion to such base pay; and
WHEREAS, Indiana State Board of Accounts requires such
financial arrangements and commitments on behalf of the City of
jeffersonville, Indiana, to its firefighters and police
officers to be memorialized by written ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by 'the Common Council of
the City of jeffersonville that it hereby reaffirms its
commitment to pay all police officers on its payroll one
percent (1%) of a first class patrolman's base pay for each
year of service in the Police Department, a~ to pay all
firefighters on its payroll one percent (1%) of a first class
firefighters' base pay for each year of service in the Fire
Department, both or which are subject to a maximum of twenty
(20) years service, or twenty percent (20%) of their base pay
as set forth hereinabove, such pay shall commence one (1) year
after starting employment with the department provided that
such employees have satisfactorily completed their probationary
employment period.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
its timely passage, promulgation and approval by the
