1. Les Merkley—Approval of Contract with City of Jeff and Jeffersonville FOP Lodge#100
You have two contracts before you, one is a proposed contract, and the second is a marked up
copy showing all changes made to previous contract. Contract is for remaining on 2025 through
all of 2026, 1 year contract only. 2% raise, increasing 457B match from 3%to 4%, and keeping
schedule of 5 on 4 off the same. This contract is short due to not knowing the future of our
funds with Senate Bill 1. Controller Metcalf, and I fill this is fundable through 2026. Council had
been meeting with the FOP and could not come to an agreement and requested administration
to take over negotiations and we were able to come up with what is presented to you today.
Mayor Moore: Today is a day to celebrate. A couple weeks back we met with Heather Metcalf,
City Controller, and Les Merkley, Corporate Counsel and started this journey and today this is
where we are. I appreciate you,the police officers for all you do and see, you see things out
there that are not always pleasant but you always step up and do an outstanding job for
Jeffersonville, I want you to know it is seen and appreciated.
Heather, you are one of the most valuable people to us, I appreciate all you did to make this
happen we couldn't be here today with your hard work. And Merkley, you are a pain in the ass
sometimes but that is something that is needed at times and I do appreciate all you do.
Mayor Moore makes motion to approve police contract through 2026, seconded by Mr. Waiz,
motion carries 3-0.
Anthony Stewart, F.O.P. President, Jeffersonville Police Officer—We appreciate you Mayor
Moore, you asked us to sit down with Controller Metcalf and Counsel Merkley to negotiate and
we come to agreement in an hour and forty-five minutes. We had been negotiating with City
Council for 18 month with no avail. Again, thank you.
ADJOURNMENT:
With no further business, Mr. Crouch made a motion to adjourn at 1:36 p.m.
