CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting for June 5, 2025, Fire Merit Commission was called to order by
Commissioner McCormick at 6:00 P.M.
ROLL CALL: The roll call was conducted and those present were Commissioners Troy McCormick, Donovan Sims
and Thomas Spalding. Commissioners Sam Smith and Brooke Thomas were absent.
COMMISSION STAFF: Fire Merit Commission Counsel Zach Stewart, Fire Chief Shawn Grant, President Union Brad
Tetley and Stenographer Cindy Seifert
GUESTS: None
MINUTES: Commissioner Sims made the motion to approve the minutes from May 8, 2025, seconded by
Commissioner Spalding, passes on a vote of 3-0.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Commissioner McCormick made the motion to approve the Agenda, amended to add a
claim, seconded by Commissioner Spalding, passes on a vote of 3-0.
CLAIMS: None
OLD BUSINESS: Attorney Stewart presented a claim in the amount of$1,694.36, invoice#20-43132, for Ascension
St Vincent for the psych &medical exams for hiring a new applicant. Commissioner McCormick made the motion
to approve the claim in the amount of$1,694.36,to Ascension St Vincent,seconded by Commissioner Sims,passes
on a vote of 3-0.
EXPERIENCED OFFICER LIST: Attorney Stewart advised there are no updates. The City Council Attorney and
City Attorney have both received copies of the documentation.
ATTORNEY REPORT: No Report
REPORT FROM LOCAL 558 UNION: No Report
REPORT ADMINISTRATION: No Report
FIRE MERIT COMMISSION COMMENTS: Commissioner McCormick reminded the Commissioners that the
meeting in July would be held on July 10th, due to the Independence Day holiday.
ADJOURNMENT: With no further business before the Commission, Commissioner Sims made the motion
to ADJOURN, seconded by Commissioner Spalding, passes on a vote of 3-0. Meeting adjourned at 6:05 P.M.
