CALL TO ORDER
• Administrator Wang welcomed everyone to the meeting and called the
meeting to order at 5:38 p.m.
• The meeting was held in person at Jeffersonville City Hall, 500
Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.

OLD BUSINESS
• Approve minutes from March 10, 2024 meeting
o Commissioner Semones motioned to approve the minutes.
o Commissioner Freeman seconded.
o The motion to approve the March 10, 2024 meeting minutes
passed unanimously.
• Elect a new Chairperson (Administrator Wang)
o Nominees: Commissioner Kimberly Freeman
o Commissioner Semones suggested adding a Vice-Chair and was
nominated for the position

o The vote was unanimously approved to elect Commissioner
Freeman as the Chairperson and Commissioner Semones as Vice-
Chair
• Update on the call for two new sculptures for Falls Landing (Administrator
Wang)
o A call to artists went out on our website and socials
o It was also shared in the local arts community
o The call will close at the end of May
o No responses received yet
• Update on Silos painting project in Ellingsworth Commons (Administrator
Wang)
o It was confirmed the graphic will be a black and white cow print
o The decision was voted on by neighborhood and Mayor's office
o The commission is for artist/painter do work on both silos
NEW BUSINESS
• Student Art Show (Administrator Wang)
o Thursday: 23 people attended the soft opening
o Friday: 1,270 people attended the opening night reception
• Attendance was more than last year
• Commissioner Clipp-Rodriquez helped with the event and
noted everything ran smoothly
o Saturday: 53 people attended
• There as a steady stream of attendees
• Some art teachers attended as well
• Commissioner Freeman helped with event
• The kids enjoyed the event and families were
engaged
• Minor issue with the doors being locked
• If that happens in the future, text Administrator Want
to reset the timer on the doors
o Sunday: 144 people attended
• Most entered between 1-3 p.m.
• Some of the kids who didn't come on Friday, attended
Sunday
o Kids had fun at Maker 13 on opening night
• We may need more tables next year
• Some kids came over on Saturday, too
o Pancake breakfast for top kids artists

• We will have a pancake artist there
• Commissioners are encouraged to attend if they can
• Commissioners should have received an Eventbrite
invitation
o We still need volunteers for:
• Thursday, 2 - 6 p.m.
• Friday, 2 - 6 p.m.
• Saturday, 1 - 4 p.m.
• Earth Day Festival (March 19, 1 - 4 p.m.)
o If we have extra volunteers on Saturday, we will use them at the
Earth Day event (12 - 4 p.m.)
• If it rains, the event will be cancelled with no rain date
• The go, no-go decision will be made Friday morning
o Spring Street Fest is also occurring on Saturday
• The Alcove will push people down the street
• We'll push folks that way
• Side yard of Art Center - Brainstorm (Administrator Wang)
o This is where the water tower and story trail are located
o Administrator Wang asked the Commissioners to bring ideas for
what we can do with the space to the next meeting
o Administrator Wang will review budget and discuss logistics
o Suggestions:
• Sound garden like what's located at Mom's Music
• Something experiential
• List of demonstrating arts for Jammin' in Jeff(Administrator Wang)
o Administrator Wang asked the Commissioners to send contact
information for artists they would suggestions to her
• Derby and Oaks invitation (Administrator Wang)
o Commissioners have been invited to attend
o An invitation to the watch party at The Depot went out today via
Eventbrite
• Teaming up with the Parks Department (Administrator Wang)
o Events
• Night market
• Outdoor gallery
• Alive after 5 - help biz stay open later in the evening;
riverstage, folks stay at that end of town
• open until 7

• Glassburger art area - will put artists there to do live
art/demo; could be visual artists - sculpture, metal
work, painting, etc.
• Will have musician in the area
• 5-7 will have stipend
• Different area for performing artists near Big 4 bridge
• Will need to be 16+ years of age
• May close street for safety & to get more ppl thru
• TBD if the trolley will run
• 9 Fridays starting June
• Need artist for Juneteenth
• Have July 5 & July 11
• Kat to send out email with logistics
- Annual Report and "business cards" handed out
- Cards have QR code for events
- Maker Space scholarship awards (Donna)
- Kat did receive confirmation from Maker Space
- Donna send verbiage to Kat cc: Monica

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
• Commissioner Aychby: Asked for clarifications about the call to artists for
Falls Landing.
o Were there no submissions for sculptures or were those received
not what we're looking for?
o Administrator Wang confirmed there were no submissions
• This is similar to the last call
• We had to extend the deadline several times
• Commissioner Clipp-Rodriquez: Great time at the art show. I had a
wonderful time meeting those who attended.
• Commissioner Freeman: No comment
• Commissioner Hawkins: The art show was great! I hope for no rain this
coming weekend!
• Commissioner Miller: Thanks to all for being inclusive and allowing my son
to join the meeting.
• Commissioner Reed: I'm sorry to have missed the art show. There were
record ticket sales for the Parkview presentation of
"High School Musical." The kids were outstanding and everyone had fun.
• Commissioner Semones: I'm thankful for the nomination to be Vice-Chair
of the Commission. I'm happy to be back after missing the last meeting.

I'm also happy to be involved and to be seeing new faces on the
Commission.
• Commissioner Uhl: Thanks to Commissioners Freeman and Semones for
stepping up to be Chair and Vice-Chair for the Commission. The art show
was amazing. It was great to see families at the event and at Maker 13.
• Commissioner Young: Glad to hear things went well with the art show.
o How was the flow of people getting into and through the show?
• We have had issues in previous years.
• Feedback was the line moved quickly (no longer than 5
minutes in line).
o I'm glad to see the Annual Report. Thanks to Administrator Wang
for putting it together.
o I'm honored to be on the board, but will need to step down. This is
my last meeting), but I'll still visit and continue to volunteer.
