ATTENDEES • Arts Administrator o Kathleen (Kat) Wang • Commissioners o Noah Aychby o Meredith Clipp-Rodriquez o Kimberly Freeman o Jackie Hawkins (Zoom) o Dr. Allison Miller o Amy Semones o Monica Uhl o Sarah Young (Zoom) ABSENT • Donna Reed • Joanna Peyron (Secretary) GUEST ATTENDEE(S) • Andy Crouch, City Engineer OLD BUSINESS • Approve minutes from January 13, 2024 meeting Commissioner Semones motioned to approve the minutes. • Commissioner Freeman seconded. The motion to approve the January 13, 2024 meeting minutes passed unanimously. • Digital Galleries (Administrator Wang) o Had great volume of submissions o Backstage Group submitted writing and poetry o Will go up live on digital galleries tomorrow (March 11) o Will flip to the Student Art Show items (April 10) 1 rTIMEIFrcrpc(110/11 I DATE: 3/10/2025 PUBLIC AR COMMISSION : 5:30 pm ST CREATING IDEAS LOCATION: Mayor's Conference Room NEW BUSINESS • Welcome New Commissioner (Administrator Wang) Jackie Hawkins: Nurse by trade and has worked with non-profits since 2009 • Stage One Event (Administrator Wang) o Commissioner Uhl provided an update on the event o Good show everything went well o Expect them to return during the Cultural Pass • Vote for a New Chairperson (Administrator Wang) Everyone agreed to wait until all Commissioners were present • Volunteer opportunities St. Patrick's Depot Days (March 15): Will need volunteers to run art table o GCCS Art Show - Opening Night Reception (April 11) o Earth Day Festival (March 19, 1 - 4 p.m.) • Event held at Art Center, Depot, Maker 13 and Picasso Point • Will have educational booths • Part of Michigan Avenue will be closed • A lot of opportunities to volunteer: Direct traffic, bike valet, scavenger hunt, and more. • Sign-up Genius going out on March 11 • UBC (Unusually Bright Colors) event (August 2025) Studio Artist and Muralist, Riley Gregor, is part of artist group has pitched an idea • Five of the artists will come in to the Art Center in August • Dates to be confirmed Artists will paint on the movable walls including an artist who will develop a "Graffiti Alley" • Will come in on Wednesday through Friday • Show art on Friday and Saturday nights • Potential to open on Saturday afternoon for more family friendly viewing o There will be separate visuals projected (projection mapping) over the walls • The projection will pick up movement and interact/change as visitors move across the art • Similar to letter bouncing installation at 21 C 2 DATE: 3/10/2025 PUBLIC A ' COMMISSION TIME: 5:30 pm ST,-tr, CREATING IDEAS LOCATION: Mayor's Conference Room The exhibit will also include a smart board where visitors and digitally spray paint onto the board o Administrator Wang is working on funding/sponsorships and to secure music as well as The Alcove for food/drinks o Four of the artists are coming in early to create a mural on Maker 13 which will represent the artwork created there. • Jammin' in Jeff with Parks Department (Summer 2025) o Event at Riverstage; Nine Fridays o There are going to be more vendors to create a ''night market" feel o We're sharing our list of vendors with Parks o Will have artist demonstrations at five of the nine events • Soldering, cookie decorating, follow-along painting (Viva Art), etc. • Simple showcase will be televised on screens • Artists will have a booth where they can sell their wares • Need to be self-contained • Will have tented booth with electricity and other amenities available • Have two slot open so please share suggestions with Administrator Wang • Commissioner Achby recommended an artist who hand builds guitars • Ideally, artist will be local to Jeffersonville • Public Art planned for this year (Administrator Wang) Call for artists will go out this month for two sculptures for Falls Landing area Silos Park (Mr. Crouch): • New park by Ellingsworth Commons will include a dog park, soccer fields. pavilion, restrooms • Land used to be a dairy farm and has two grain silos • We will be tasked will getting the silos painted this year • These silos will be painted to resemble dairy cows • Need to coordinate with a standard painter and muralist/artist since the focus of the design has been determined • Budget has been determined for the entire park, but specific funds haven't been broken out for the silos. • No plans to develop/utilize the interior of the silos. • Upcoming events (Administrator Wang) 3 jcrrcpcnWIfii 1Il DATE: 3/10/2025 PUBLIC AR COMMISSION TIME: 5 30 pm ST:-1, CREATING IDEAS LOCATION: Mayor's Conference Room Earth Day Festival (March 19): Collaboration with the Parks Department, the City, Maker 13, and NoCo o GCCS Art Show (April 11 - 20) o Cool Mountain will be doing Hadestown: The Teen Edition (set up mid-May) • Volunteering (group discussion) Commissioner Wang will share Sign-up Genius link with new Commissioners - Commissioners are encouraged to share the link with friends and family The JPAC website has a tab where the community can sign-up to volunteer (https://www.jeffersonvilleart.com/get-involved) Commissioner Semones praised Administrator Wang for providing volunteers with clear directions and expectations COMMISSIONER COMMENTS • Commissioner Aychby: Got a new job, started today at Hawthorne Innovations. Building samples primarily for the Bourbon industry. • Commissioner Clipp-Rodriquez: No comments. • Commissioner Freeman: No comments. • Commissioner Hawkins: Thanks for • Commissioner Miller: Excited about the upcoming art event using projection mapping. This is a good commission to sit on and feel free to reach out with any questions. • Commissioner Uhl: Echoed Commissioner Semones' statement about the commission. Extended thanks to Administrator Wang for her organization, diligence, commitment, heart and openness. • Commissioner Young: Welcome to new members and to Commissioner Wang for her commitment and hard work. • Administrator Wang: Christina Gutowski, who worked on our new JPAC logo, will be the artist for Pride Fest (June 7) and will need help with a cut out (6' x 4' boa) she plans to use as a photo prop. Will need to be completed by May. Commissioner Aychby volunteered to help if shop space could be made available. • Mr. Crouch: No comments.
