HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-R-05 RESOLUTION RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA, APPROVING THEREOF AND FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR THE FEDERAL SECTION 8 HOUSING PROVISIONS (VOUCHERS PROGRAM) BY THE JEFFERSONVILLE HOUSING AUTHORITY WHEREAS, under the provisions of Title II Section 201 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1972 (P.L. 93-383), amending the Housing Act of 1937, local housing authorities may receive financial assistance through the Section 8 "Lower Income Housing Assistance" program for the purpose of providing low-rent housing by leasing dwelling units in privately owned structureS; and, WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Jeffersonville is coordinating the Housing Voucher Program and is applying for fifty (50) Housing Voucher units; WHEREAS, such provisions may not apply to any locality unless the governing body of the locality has by resolution approved the application of such provisions to such locality. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, CLARK COUNTY, INDIANA, THAT: The provisions of Title II Section 201 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1972 (P.L. 93-383), amending the United States Housing Act of 1937, relating to the Section 8 "Lower Income Housing Assistance" program shall be applicable to the Housing Authority of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana. SYNOPSIS This Resolution approves the continuation and implementation of the Section 8 Housing Assistance Program (Vouchers) by the City of Jeffersonville Housing Authority. Through this program privately-owned standard housing is leased and rents are subsidized for low income families. -1- Passed and adopted this ~ . day of y~~ , 1989, by the Common Council o? the City of jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana.
