HomeMy WebLinkAboutJFMC August 22, 2024 FIRE MERIT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA Special Meeting City Council Chambers August 22, 2024 CALL TO ORDER: The special meeting for August 22, 2024, Fire Merit Commission was called to order by Commissioner McCormick at 6:00 P.M. ROLL CALL: The roll call was conducted and those present were Commissioners Troy McCormick, Donovan Sims, Sam Smith, Thomas Spalding and Brooke Valentine. COMMISSION STAFF: Fire Merit Commission Counsel Zach Stewart, Union President Brad Tetley and Stenographer Cindy Seifert GUESTS: Robbie Jackson, Kyle Patterson,Joe Hurt, Dave Kaskie and Kevin Michalak MINUTES: None APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Commissioner Smith made the motion to approve the Amended Agenda (amended to add claim), seconded by Commissioner Sims, passes on a vote of 5-0. CLAIMS: A claim was presented a claim for advertising costs to Indiana Media Group in the amount of $533.88, Commissioner Sims made the motion to approve the claim in the amount of$533.88, seconded by Commissioner Smith, passes on a vote of 5-0. BUSINESS: RESOLUTION NO. 2024-01 Attorney Stewart provided a Resolution Certifying the Results of the Promotions Process. The list will become effective upon the expiration of the current list. The current list expires on November 6, 2024. Commissioner McCormick made the motion to approve Resolution 2024-01, seconded by Commissioner Spalding, passes on a vote of 5-0. RESOLUTION NO. 2024-02 Attorney Stewart provided a Resolution containing the current scores of the applicants. Out of 230 applicants,96 attended the testing. Due to tie scores, 53 applicants will move on to the interviews. Commissioner Sims made the motion to approve Resolution 2024-02,seconded by Commissioner Spalding, passes on a vote of 4-0-1, Commissioner Smith abstained from the vote. Page 1 of 2 ATTORNEY REPORT: No Report REPORT FROM LOCAL 558 UNION: Union President Tetley expressed gratitude for being here to approve and provide promotions information. REPORT ADMINISTRATION: Robbie Jackson thanked Commissioner's Spalding and Smith for proctoring the applicant testing. FIRE MERIT COMMISSION COMMENTS: None ADJOURNMENT: With no further business before the Commission, Commissioner Smith made the motion to ADJOURN, seconded by Commissioner Sims, passes on a vote of 5-0.
