HomeMy WebLinkAboutJFMC August 1, 2024 FIRE MERIT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA Regular Meeting City Council Chambers August 1, 2024 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting for August 1, 2024, Fire Merit Commission was called to order by Commissioner McCormick at 6:00 P.M. ROLL CALL: The roll call was conducted and those present were Commissioners Troy McCormick, Donovan Sims, Sam Smith,Thomas Spalding and Brooke Valentine. COMMISSION STAFF: Deputy Chief Jason Sharp and Stenographer Cindy Seifert GUESTS: Kyle Patterson and Rick Vangilder MINUTES: Commissioner Smith made the motion to approve the minutes from July 11, 2024, seconded by Commissioner Valentine, passes on a vote of 5-0. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Commissioner McCormick made the motion to approve the Agenda, seconded by Commissioner Sims, passes on a vote of 5-0. CLAIMS: A claim was presented a claim for credit card use at Chick-Fil-A, for meals during promotional interviews/tactical testing in the amount of$186.76, Commissioner Smith made the motion to approve the claim in the amount of $186.76, seconded by Commissioner Spalding, passes on a vote of 5-0. BUSINESS: EXECUTIVE SESSION MEMORANDUM Attorney Stewart provided a Memorandum from the Executive Session held for Promotional Interviews at the Fire Headquarters on July 22nd and 23`d Commissioner McCormick made the motion to accept the Memorandum of Executive Session into the record, seconded by Commissioner Spalding, passes on a vote of 5-0. ATTENDANCE FOR APPLICANT TESTING Commissioner McCormick advised that the Applicant Testing would be held Saturday, August 17th at River Valley Middle School. IPSP representatives will arrive at 8:00 AM. Anne Langley will be sending letters to applicants reminding them of testing date and site. Commissioner McCormick requested confirmation of Commissioners who will attend as proctors. Commissioners Smith, Spalding and Valentine will be attending. Page 1 of 2 ATTORNEY REPORT: No Report REPORT FROM LOCAL 558 UNION: Union Secretary Patterson advised the Commissioner's that a request to release an uncertified list of promotions scores had been made and he is requesting same from Commission. Commissioner McCormick stated he would rather release an official list once the Commission Attorney has a chance to prepare documentation. Commissioner Smith expressed concern with releasing an uncertified list. Commissioner's ultimately decided to wait for the next meeting to certify the list, once counsel can prepare Resolution. REPORT ADMINISTRATION: Deputy Chief Sharp advised that part of the Promotions process involves Tactical Assessors. Two of the Assessors offered their services in trade for our personnel, the third needs to be compensated for their time. Sharp will advise the Assessor to prepare and invoice for payment. FIRE MERIT COMMISSION COMMENTS: None ADJOURNMENT: With no further business before the Commission, Commissioner Sims made the motion to ADJOURN, seconded by Commissioner Spalding, passes on a vote of 5-0.
