HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks Authority July 22, 2024 Jeffersonville Parks Authority Monday,July 22, 2024 The Jeffersonville Parks Authority met in Session on Monday, July 22, 2024 in the Mayor's conference room on the third floor of City Hall. Members Present: Elizabeth Carter, Evan Stoner, Johnna Anderson, Debbie Pait, Gus Luckert, Pam Clark, Stacie Thompson, and Larry Jordan. Carmen Croudep was absent for this meeting. Parks Staff Present: Paul Northam, Amber Ridings, Sara Nord, Amber Powell, Ricky Romans, Matt Siler, Daniel Fluhr, Olivia Mann, Tim McCoy, and Tara Young. APPROVAL OF AGENDA— Paul Northam requested to include an addendum to the agenda, as he added the renovation of the T-ball fields. He talked briefly about the trolley tour that was to occur at the close of this meeting, traveling to Chapel Lake, Ellingsworth and viewing the new Oglesby pickleball courts. Member Jordan made a MOTION to approve the revised agenda, and the motion was seconded by Member Luckert. The motion passed on a vote of 8-0. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Member Clark made a MOTION to approve the May 20th, 2024 minutes (as no meeting was held in June) and the motion was seconded by Member Thompson. The motion passed on a vote of 8-0. ANNOUNCEMENT Paul Northam shared the news of Matt Siler retiring from the Parks Maintenance Manager, thanking him for his dedication and commitment to The City and the Parks Department for 10 years. He announced Daniel Fluhr will assume Matt's responsibilities, taking over as the Maintenance Manager. OLD BUSINESS—None NEW BUSINESS Tara Young presented a band contract for Steamboat Nights named ARK. Member Thompson made a MOTION to approve, and this motion was seconded by Member Stoner. The motion passed on a vote of 8-0. All contracts are approved pending legal review. Amber Powell presented a couple contracts for The Depot. The Car Show event will also feature Lampus to be held on August 315t. This band appeals to late teens and young adults. Member Anderson made a MOTION to approve. This motion was seconded by Member Luckert. The motion passed on a vote of 8- 0. All contracts are approved pending legal review. The other contract for approval was for the event featuring 1271 and the country music band Chapel Hart. This will be held on September 13th. Member Anderson ask if this would be a ticketed show, and Amber Powell explained "yes" with prices in the range of$15 or$20. This group is well known; therefore, their contract is more expensive to secure. Amber then did offer a"thank you"to City Council for their financial support of The Depot. Member Anderson made a MOTION to approve these contracts, and the motion was seconded by Member Luckert. The motion passed on a vote of 8-0. All contracts are approved pending legal review. MANAGER'S REPORT Each Manager has included an activity attachment for your review. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Paul began with a more detailed explanation of the renovation to the Little League fields. He'd reached out to 3 different companies; however, only 1 reply was received. This came from Whitaker. The will grate the field, apply a clay mix and conditioner for this improvement. The total cost (as job requires skilled workers) will be$23,487. Paul requested approval and Member Stoner made a MOTION to approve. This motion was seconded by Member Thompson. REPORTS AND COMMENTS Parks Authority Attorney Report- NONE Public Comments- NONE Parks Authority Member Comments—Member Luckert suggested to Ricky Romans that perhaps a dirt outfield could be added to Wilcoxson on the right side. Member Luckert made a motion to ADJOURN at 5:12 pm. A trolley tour was given of Chapel Lake, Ellingsworth and Lottie Oglesby(pickleball courts) after this meeting. Participants included all attendees from the Parks Authority Board meeting. Also joining were City Council members Bill Burns, Donna Reed, Jacky Snelling and Amy Semones.
