ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1989 SALARY ORDINANCE
(88-OR-34, REGARDING THE POLICE AND FIRE
DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE)
WHEREAS, the common Council of the city of jeffersonville
has properly passed, promulgated, and adopted ordinance No.
88-OR-34, which ordinance established the salary limitations
and requirements in effect for all appointed offices and
positions in the City of jeffersonville; and
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the
Common Council of the City of jeffersonville that all employees
should have received a raise for 1989 based upon their actual
pay, and that the jeffersonville Police Department and
jeffersonville Fire Department merely received raises upon
their base
NOW,
the City
salaries.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the common Council of
of jeffersonville that it hereby amends the existing
salary ordinance in the following manner:
1.
That the jeffersonville Police Department and
jeffersonville Fire Department shall retroactively
receive a five percent (5%) raise in 1989 based upon
their base and rank pay. No raise shall be computed
in any manner based upon the longevity pay received
by any employee of the jeffersonville Police
Department or jeffersonville Fire Department.
The Clerk-Treasurer of the city of jeffersonville is
hereby directed to recompute the rates of pay for all
members of the jeffersonville Police Department and
the jeffersonville Fire Department pursuant to the
provisions herein, and to award them a full five
percent (5%) raise based upon their individual base
and rank payS for 1989 in the manner which can be
most expeditiously handled by the clerk-Treasurer's
office.
That the Clerk-Treasurer is further directed to
determine the increased funding requirements as a
result of this ordinance, and to furnish full and
accurate
