JEFFERSONVILLE POLICE MERIT COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
SEPTEMBER 12, 2023
The Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission meeting was called to order on September 12, 2023,
at 5:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, First Floor, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
President Jeremy Snelling called the meeting to order.
INVOCATION:
Invocation was given by Robert Campbell.
ROLL CALL:
The following Police Merit Commission Members are in attendance:
President Jeremy Snelling, Vice-President, Bonnie Deppert, Treasurer, Scott Aldridge,
Member, Buddy Parker, Member, Robert Campbell.
The following Police Merit Commission Members are absent:
None.
Additionally, the following individuals were present:
Attorney, Robert G. Bottorff II.
The following were absent:
Minute-keeper/Court reporter, Patty Rush.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
President Snelling presented the Minutes from our regular meeting held on August 8,2023,asking
if there were any questions, corrections, additions and/or discussions. Brief discussion held. Robert
Campbell makes a motion to approve the Minutes as presented and seconded by Buddy Parker.
Voted 5-0
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
Department Updates:
Assistant Chief Michael Scott McVoy, gives the Commission an update, and leads a discussion
regarding the following items: 1. Experienced Officer Hiring List; 2. New hires (from Experienced
and Inexperienced hiring lists); 3. Upcoming staffing needs within the Department.
1. Status of Experienced Officer Hiring List:
Department is currently conducting hiring process for Experienced Officer Hiring List, and
process is on-going.
2. New Hires:
Experienced Officer New Hires:
The last group that was from the Experienced Officer Hiring List is still in the
training process and new recruits are doing well. The last three officers selected
from the Experienced Officer Hiring List are currently in their "Administrative
Training Phase," and are doing well.
Inexperienced Officer New Hires:
The first three candidates selected from the Inexperienced Officer List have
enrolled in and are attending the Police Academy in Plainfield, Indiana at this
time.
3. Upcoming Staffing Needs Within the Department:
Department is expecting some upcoming departures of members of the department
(police officers) over the next several months due to retirements, and staff members
looking to move elsewhere.The Department remains in a constant hiring cycle at this
time.
CLAIMS:
President Snelling present Invoice #2023-09 in the amount of $100.00 from Patty Rush. Mr.
Parker made a motion to approve the Invoice for$100.00 and seconded by Ms. Deppert.
Voted 5-0
President Snelling presented Invoice #0823204020 from Indiana Media Group, in the amount of
$487.80. Mr. Campbell made a motion to approve the Invoice in the amount of$487.50 and seconded by
Mr. Parker. Voted 5-0
ADJOURNMENT:
Mr. Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:15 P.M. and seconded by Ms. Deppert.
Our next meeting will be held on October 10, 2023 at 5:00 P.M.
