DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Amber Powell—The Riverstage schedule was recently published, and the new production company, C&
H, is ready to begin equipment installation. The buzz is HUGE for Lil' Jon coming on Sunday,June 18th,
and a very large crowd is anticipated. The Jeff Goes Country Artist announcement of Carly Pierce was
well-received, and iHeart Radio actually had her on the phone for a brief interview. This event is
scheduled for July 1st
Matt Siler—The team had been diligently working on river clean-up for Thunder. There's also work
happening at the Aquatic Center, preparing for the opening Memorial weekend. The Riverstage will be
brought down river to dock in early May.
Sara Nord —Car tags are being produced and supply inventory for activities is being finalized for Summer
Camp.
Amber Ridings—Summer camp attendance has been increased this year, accepting 160 kids between
the age groups of 5-7 and 8-12 yr. olds. Staffing has been increased to accommodate more kids, and
there are still over 20 on the waiting list.
Paul Northam—Ken Ellis Center is utilized during the weeks of Summer Camp; therefore, the seniors will
be using the CASI building during this time. The Parks Department is exploring additional options for
2024. A consideration might be the Nachand Fieldhouse; however, the convenience of having all the
kids at close locations serves well for the parents.
Maintenance has been working to prepare the Riverstage area, cleaning up the landscape &trash for
Thunder as well. The Street Department also assisted on Sunday for clean-up. Painting has been
happening at the Aquatic Center in preparation for the Memorial weekend opening, and new pumps
have been installed. The concession area has added an additional window to improve long lines.
There is a neighborhood meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 25th at Lottie Oglesby Park. This begins at
6:30 p.m., and will give the public an opportunity to talk about items of interest (in addition to
pickleball) such as new walking trails, a playground and parking.
Paul announced that Dave Simpson, City Partnership Manager, has resigned. His responsibilities will be
absorbed for the remainder of this year by Amber Powell, Amber Ridings and Paul. Dave has completed
all contracts for the 2023 summer events; however, Steamboat Nights are still outstanding.
