HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks Authority March 27, 2023 Jeffersonville Parks Authority Monday, March 27,2023 The Jeffersonville Parks Authority met in Session on Monday, March 27, 2023 in the Mayor's conference room on the third floor of City Hall. Members Present: Elizabeth (Lisa) Carter, Evan Stoner, Bill Burns, Johnna Anderson, Ralph Scales, Pam Clark, Carmen Croudep, and Debbie Pait. Members absent: Larry Jordan. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member Croudep made a MOTION to approve the agenda for the March 27`d, 2023 Parks Authority Meeting,the motion was seconded by Member Stoner. The motion passed on a vote of 8-0. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Member Burns made a MOTION to approve the minutes from the February 27th,2023 Parks Authority Meeting,the motion was seconded by Member Anderson. The motion passed on a vote of 8-0. OLD BUSINESS—NONE NEW BUSINESS Paul Northam presented a 2023 revised Fee Schedule. Pricing has increased slightly for rentals,and memberships for the Nachand Fieldhouse, Highland Dog Park and Envision Center. (The Aquatic Center rates were previously approved.) Member Stoner ask is this was due to inflation or other reasons,and Paul stated the Parks Department reviews and updates the pricing every 2 to 3 years. Member Burns mentioned this has been compared to other pricing within the community,and remains very competitive. Member Burns made a MOTION to approve,the motion was seconded by Member Stoner. The motion passed on a vote of 8-0. Amber Powell presented the My Local Santa Contract, beginning with the Light-Up Jeff Event November 25t''. There will be 2 additional public visits in December. Member Burns made a MOTION to approve the contract,the motion was seconded by Member Anderson. The motion was passed on a vote of 8-0. All contracts are approved pending legal review. Amber also presented several band contracts for the 2023 Summer Concert Series from Clayton Anderson,Thunderstruck,Top Shelf and V Groove. Member Clark made a MOTION to approve,the motion was seconded by Member Burns. The motion passed on a vote of 8-0. All contracts are approved pending legal review. The next contract presented was for the Jeff Goes Country artist. Member Stoner made a MOTION to approve,the motion was seconded by Member Burns. The motion was passed on a vote of 8-0. All contracts are approved pending legal review. The last contract presented was for Lil'Jon on Sunday,June 18t'1. Member Burns made a MOTION to approve,the motion was seconded by Member Clark. The motion was passed on a vote of 8-0. All contracts are approved pending legal review. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Amber Powell - Work is nearly complete to finalize all contracts for the 2023 season. The Riverstage schedule will be published in April. The Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for this Saturday, April 1'at Richard Vissing Park. Tim McCoy— Photos were distributed to the Parks Authority Board of the beautification to Allison Brook Park. The work has been ongoing for the past month. The team is ahead of schedule for projects of cleaning landscape beds, removing liability trees and painting bathrooms. Pea gravel has been added to the playground at Vissing, as well as edging and adding dirt and sod. Additional projects scheduled are mulching, installing special creek rock at Lansden Park and sod for the Chapel Lake parking lot area. Sara Nord—We're ready for the 2023 Summer Camp to begin. The new tile floor looks great at the Envision Center(purchased by the Housing Authority). The computer room needs work, which will not be a focus until after summer camp. The Men's basketball tournament has started, as the season is coming to an end. Ricky Romans— Improvements are continuing at WAC, and the HVAC units for will take 2 to 3 weeks to install. New flooring, walls and ceiling will be installed following this completion. (The ETA is mid-May to June 152.) Rentals begin on Monday, April 3rd. The turf fields will be utilized soon; therefore,the primary focus is to have restrooms and the locker room safe and ready. Softball begins April 18th and 19`h. Amber Ridings—Summer camp registration began March 13th, and sold out within 10 minutes. We are working to get more staffing and buses to increase enrollment. Paul Northam—Richard Vissing Park has new pea gravel, and the back filling of dirt and sod has been completed. This project was targeted for completion prior to the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt April 15c Work at The Depot has been completed, placing sod (Fescue) where the ice rink was located. Sod will be placed at Chapel Lake Park. The ballfields at Vissing Park have been improved, with new pitching mounds. A clean-up day on the River is being planned, and the target date is prior to Thunder Over Louisville (April 22nd ) REPORTS AND COMMENTS Parks Authority Attorney Report- NONE Public Comments- NONE Parks Authority Member Comments- NONE Member Burns made a motion to ADJOURN at 5:57 pm, PASSING on a vote of 8-0.
