'....."'..MILLI FRtso y� JEFFERSONVILLE PUBLIC AR. connnnissioN CG ' Jeffersonville Public Art Commission October 17, 2022 ATTENDING: John McCarthy Sarah Young Rosy Callahan Teah Hampton Kofi Darku Andy Crouch Meeting start @ 5:36pm No minutes to approve from prior meeting -will wait for transcription. There will be two months of minutes to approve in Nov. NOCO HOLIDAY MARKET - Sarah - Subcommittee meeting overview - Sarah will look into having signs made to direct attendants to areas of interest(general signs instead of specific to market, so we can use them for future events). -Idea: Volunteers put into place to greet/direct make guests feel welcome -Idea: Hire someone to dress as the Grinch and walk thru the crowds (Andy suggests Ben Gillette, who was casually dressed like this last year) -Idea: Art Mobile parked as a barricade, lit up & decorated(from the week before at Light-Up parade) -Idea: Warm Weather space designated in NAC if possible -Announcement:Nov 18th Deadline For Vendor Selection(JPAC subcommittee meeting for selection process) ART MOBILE UPDATE-Andy/Sarah/John -Andy volunteered for first workshop;pictures were not allowed due to site. Community partner provided plenty of support; sessions were small and successful. - Sarah gave update on upcoming dates;volunteers in place for next two events; 10/28 and 11/16. -Need volunteers for 11/29 @ FSES; Kofi&John confirmed their volunteer status for that date. CFAC -John Going fine and continuing until first part of December.Nothing else to report. DIGITAL ART GALLERY-Andy -Need to elect new artists for fall show and first 2023 show - Sarah will direct Andy to space on G-Drive to locate submissions -Andy will put submissions together in a format for subcommittee to review - Subcommittee members agreed to meet within the next few weeks; Sarah will organize -Mayors Holiday cards will be "winter" show TEEN ARTS COUNCIL- Group Discussion - John proposes all materials to be prepared and in place by March/Apr 2023, so information can be pushed to local schools - Sarah proposes Google form to reach students individually over Summer - John reiterates the concept of a teen "ambassador team" for TAC,which helps market this to all students interested - Sarah will send Emily's notes to John for him to create a synopsis of the project to propose to subcommittee - Subcommittee includes: Teah, Susy, Sarah,Abby;Abby is leaving term in Jan 2023; Sarah needs to step down. Teah will speak to Susy about her interest in staying on the subcommittee. - Group discussed what will be needed to make this happen and keep this project in place and maintain momentum. Key points: maintain structure in place, add new members to committee as new JPAC members join, get new administrator involved ASAP. BUTTERFLY GARDEN INSTALLATION-Andy -Installed at Shirley's Arbor Park around Joe Autry's new sculpture -Displayed pictures of the garden around the sculpture and signage - The second garden will be installed in the Spring @ NoCo, around pipe murals - Great project due to minimal effort and zero cost from JPAC budget ART ADMINISTRATOR SEARCH UPDATE-Andy -Interviews have taken place. An offer has been made. -Hopes to have a new art administrator in place by next month's meeting -Information cannot be shared until position is confirmed -Excitment around the potential of new candidate - Group raised questions about how to keep this administrator in place -Andy suggested to reformat the planning process and how we prioritize our programming plans; also utilize grant money to fund projects and budget money to fund assistance with projects - announcement will be made as soon as hiring process is complete ART DEDICATION/RIBBON CUTTING-Andy -Lacy & Joe both need ribbon cutting events (pipe murals/shirleys arbor sculpture) -Lacy has been out of town a lot; Andy is working with her to confirm a date ASAP -Joe's ribbon cutting will need to be delayed until his final sculpture is installed at Shirleys Arbor AUTRY SCULPTURE-Andy -Parks dept has agreed to provide $6k; JPAC has agreed to pay $6k; $12k to go to Joe for the third piece of his sculpture -Funding must wait until early 2023 budget is in place for Parks Dept -Ribbon cutting for his sculpture set will wait until his final sculpture is in place LIGHT UP JEFF PARADE -John/.Group Discussion -JPAC walks with Art Mobile decorated -Nov 26th Parade Date -Need to create a subcommittee for planning/decorating the art mobile -Idea: invite all artists who were commissioned/participated in JPAC programming 2022 -Idea: all partipants will wear NoCo Art Mobile volunteer shirts -Idea: ask the Grinch(Ben Gillette)to drive the Art Mobile -Idea: ask the equine therapy program to invite miniature horses to walk in their amplify costumes -NoCo Arts.Mobile ideas: exterior lights/music/bubbles/ balloons/lots of color 2 -Idea: Hand out candy canes -Andy will lead the subcommittee VACANT STUDIO DISCUSSION- Group - Sarah is leaving residency for studio #2 at NAC -Andy discusses process of application/jury - Group agrees to leave the space open until new administrator comes in and decides selection process for vacant studios COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: - Kofi proposes to start the conversation of our 2023 theme word.Andy will send out reminder email for JPAC to bring theme ideas and new programming ideas two weeks prior to next month's meeting -Sarah&Teah &John &Andy reflect on the enjoyment of SI Arts Gala (Oct 1) Meeting adjourned @ 6:47pm - Motion by Rosy-Second by Kofi Minutes Submitted by: XX?
