NoCo Art Mobile—John McCarthy
The van looks beautiful, the wrap was done by Cheryl Ullrich, and she done a great job. We completed a week
long artist training, facilitated by Debbie Shannon and we have hired four artists. They learned how to prepare
and facilitate lesson plans. They met with our community partners minus Riverbend and all of them loved all
the artists. I had the artists to evaluate the program, they rated us a 4.8 out of 5. Comments received are: time
was powerful, very engaging, need more time for lesson planning and implementation. When is lst event
scheduled for Art Mobile?Asks Susan Harrison. We have not scheduled anything as of yet, says John
McCarthy. I have a conference room full of shelves and bins to be installed into art mobile and Denise has
come up with a logo and we will be getting t-shirts for all volunteers, said Andy Crouch.
Children's Fine Art Class —John McCarthy
Date has been chosen for this, it is going to be September 12 and will run for ten weeks. I have sent
information to all elementary art teachers and coordinators notifying them of this event. So hopefully we have
a good turnout.
Digital Art Gallery—John McCarthy
New gallery is live and will run for about 12 weeks. Will we continue to add shows to the digital art gallery?
Asks Susan Harrison. Commissioners all say they would like to see shows being added to digital gallery. Is
there anyway of adding mobile shows to the gallery?Asks Susan Harrison. I am sure there is a way, says Andy
Crouch. I am going to have to figure out how Emily got the designs, I think she used canvas and I am not very
familiar with that program. Abbigail Richmer stated she had an account and would be willing to help with all
this. Will screens go black if we don't change them?Asks John McCarthy. No screens will not go black it will
just keep on there what is on there now, says Andy Crouch. Sub committee for digital art committee is Susan
Harrison, Kofi Darku, Sarah Young, and Rosey Callahan.
Teen Arts Council- Committee
Committee has not met since last month. Emily shared her whole folder with me but there is no application
questions, says Abbigail Richmer. Do we need to go back and visit this right now? Is this the right time? I have
a lot of reservations about this, says Susan Harrison. I have the same reservations about this, says Teah
Williams—Hampton. Emily asked me to lead this and I told her I would, says Abbigail Richmer. I worry
about putting this on someone's lap, says Susan Harrison. Is there a way to make this work on a smaller scale?
Asks Sarah Young. I think we should start getting things together for 2023 session, says Abbigail Richmer.
Should we table this to when we get a new administrator? Asks John McCarthy. I don't think we can force the
new administrator to do —I don't think we can have a time line, says Susan Harrison. Who is the sub committee
for this project? Asks Andy Crouch. Teah, Sarah, Susan, and Abbigail. Kofi Darku makes motion that teen art
council continues as has been set, seconded by Sarah Young, motion carried unanimously. Susan Harrison
makes motion to move art council to approximately fall 2023, seconded by Rosey Callahan, motion carried
unanimously. New Sub committee will be Kofi Darku, Rosey Callahan, Abbigail Richmer, Teah Williams-
Hampton, &John McCarthy.
New Business:
Open Door Project -John McCarthy
Postponed, artists and community groups have been notified. Denise was fine with this especially since there
was not enough participants as of right now.
September Arts Market—John McCarthy
Canceled
Mural Festival—postponed
NoCo Pipes Mural—John McCarthy
Monarch butterfly pollinator garden will be installed in September, sponsored by the Louisville Zoo is % way
complete. Wendy Dant Chesser is on Louisville Zoo board and they are looking at Jeff for a monarch butterfly
garden. September 12-14 it will be installed at NOCO art center pipes and Shirley's Arbor, says Andy Crouch.
NOCO Arts Programming—postponed
This is a large undertaking the new administrator could shine with on this, says Sarah Young.
Public Art Maintenance—Discussion. Do we need a committee? My problem is I have a show and a new
principal, says Susan Harrison but I think all pieces need to be inspected. I think we need to set a committee,
says Sarah Young. Can we all not do this, because there are a lot of pieces, says Rosey Callahan. I will put
together a spreadsheet of all pieces if you all would like, says Abbigail Richmer. I am fine with doing twenty
and taking pictures to bring back to discuss, says John McCarthy. I believe we have a google maps site we can
use with this project, says Andy Crouch.
Southern Indiana Arts Alliance—Andy Crouch
Brian Bell reached out and asked if we wanted to sponsor a table for gala again this, year, it is $2,000.00 for a
table sponsor and you receive 10 tickets. Is there any reason we should sponsor, says Kofi Darku. I think we
need to think about this because this is future networking, and future business, says Abbigail Richmer. Would
anyone want to go? Asks Andy Crouch. I would hate to sponsor the table and it be sitting there empty. I don't
think we can fill a table, says Kofi Darku. I think we give a gesture not a table sponsor. By a show of hands,
how many people would like to attend the gala? Asks John McCarthy. By the show of hands there would be
enough commissioners to attend to fill the table. Kofi Darku makes motion to sponsor a table for Southern
Indiana Arts Alliance Gala for$2,000.00, Seconded by Sarah Young, motion carried by 5-1 vote with Susan
Harrison voting no.
