APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Member made a MOTION to approve the agenda for the February 16, 2022 Parks Authority meeting,
the motion was seconded by Member. The motion PASSED on a vote of
OLD BUSINESS-None
NEW BUSINESS-
Powell-Jeff Goes Country Contract-We have the Jeff Goes Country confirmation for the artist and with
the national acts I feel like we need to act as soon as possible to get the paperwork approved and
completed. The name of the act is blacked out because we are wanting to make a big announcement in
April. Bill Burns cannot make the meeting tonight but he sent an email that I would like to read and
then address.
Member Burns Email "I will not be at the parks meeting tonight due to a scheduling conflict with a
regular UEZ meeting scheduled at the same time. My vote for this band at Jeff Goes Country
would be a NO vote. I don't believe $60,000 plus all the extras the band is asking for is a good
use of taxpayer money. I know some will say we will get sponsors, but we are using
taxpayer money to supplement what the sponsorships will not cover for the entire season."
We are spending our usual $35k for the JGC artist. The mayor said he'll get$25 from UEZ to supplement
the fee. I spoke with the artist's manager and they are cutting some of the stuff from the rider for
example we're just getting 8 hotel rooms instead of 14 and doing a meal buyout instead of catering.
Also,we can't hang the 1-ton motors at Riverstage anyway so we don't have to get those.
Asst Director Ridings- I would like to add that with the caliber of artist we have been getting prices are
not going down they are only going up. We are actually getting this artist at a great deal because they
usually get a lot more than this.
Member Clark asked what would happen if the Mayor didn't get the other$25,000.00.
Director Northam stated that we would have to get council approval to move the money but we there is
money in his edit budget that is used for purchase equipment and vehicles.
Member Croudep asked if this is extra money in the budget or a rob peter to pay paul situation?
Director Northam stated that it would be more of rob peter to pay paul situation as this is money that
we wait until the end of the year and then use to purchase the equipment or vehicles that we may need
so if we need to use this money we would have to wait until the next year to purchase what need.
Member Stoner asked how much revenue is brought in from Jeff Goes Country?
Amber Powell stated that she didn't have the information on hand for what revenue was brought in
from previous events but that the Parks department is planning to work with Southern Indiana Tourism
to see what the numbers are for coming events.
Member Anderson asked Amber Powell on a scale of1 to 10 how sure are they that the Mayor will get
the$25,000.00?
Amber Powell stated that she couldn't answer that question and referred it to Asst Director Ridings who
stated that the Mayor directed them to go after this artist so they are as sure as they can be that the
money will come through.
Member Clark asked if we had to postpone the concert due to Covid what will happen to the deposit?
Amber Powell stated that usually they try to reschedule the event for another date but at the worst we
would just lose the deposit.
President Carter took a roll call vote, the vote PASSED on a vote of 7-0.
AlA Contract Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band-We had this band last year and it drew a huge crowd so we
are excited to have them back.
