ORDINANCE IMPOSING A FEE FOR EMPLOYEE BACKGROUND CHECKS
BY THE JEFFERSONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the
numerous requests
background checks for
private and governmental
WHEREAS, this
geffersonville Police Department receives
from the general public regarding employee
considered for hire by
persons being
firms; and,
service requires
numerous man-hours of
on-duty officers at the Jeffersonville Police Department and
should properly be defrayed by a fee for such information.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of Jeffersonville that subsequent to the effective
date of this ordinance a fee of Five Dollars ($5.00) shall be
charged for each and every background check run on prospective
employees at the request of any private or governmental
employer. These funds shall further be deposited into the
office of the Jeffersonville City Clerk-Treasurer to be used in
conjunction with the Signal 19 money collected by the
Jeffersonville Police Department to defray the cost of the
purchase of the police radio system. At such time as the debt
on that radio system is fully retired the Jeffersonville Police
Department shall thereafter use monies collected hereunder for
police equipment or education as approved by the Jeffersonville
Board of Public Works and Safety and the Jeffersonville Common
Council.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
timely passage, promulgation and approval by the Mayor and
publication in accordance with the law.
Passed and adopted by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana, on the ~ day of
