HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-R-02 Resolution Approving the Application of Jeffersonville for the Community Development Block Grant Funds for the Covid-19 Response Response Program From The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs RESOLUTION NO.2021-R- of A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE,INDIANA,APPROVING THE APPLICATION OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FOR THE COVID-19 RESPONSE PROGRAM FROM THE INDIANA OFFICE OF COMMUNITY AND RURAL AFFAIRS WHEREAS,the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) desires to fund a grant from the State Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) COVID-19 Response Program for the City of Jeffersonville; and WHEREAS,the monies received would be used for a Grant Program to Businesses to retain Low-to-moderate income jobs which is designed to be an economic recovery project for businesses within the City limits and which will also include at least$250,000 for activities that will benefit low-and moderate-income persons; and WHEREAS,the City of Jeffersonville would utilize the Grant Department and its staff to implement the program; and WHEREAS,a public hearing was held by the Grant Department on behalf of the City ,and pursuant to OCRA regulations for CDBG funding; and WHEREAS,the public hearing and preliminary applications by businesses within the City of Jeffersonville has clearly demonstrated the need for a program proposed by the City of Jeffersonville to be funded with OCRA CDBG monies; NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, as follows: 1. The Common Council of the City(the "Council") determines that there is a need for the Grant Program for Businesses to be funded with OCRA provided CDBG monies for business located within the City Limits. 2. The Council determines that the Grant Department is an appropriate entity with sufficient staff, expertise, and resources to effectively administer the program on behalf of the City. 3. The Council wholeheartedly supports and endorses the application of the City through the Grant Department to OCRA for the CDBG funds with at least $250,000 of those funds targeted for activities that benefit low-to-moderate income families. Sf' Passed and adopted this ` day of February, 2021,by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana.
