BEFORE THE COMMON COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
STATE OF INDIANA
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SALARIES FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
WHEREAS, I.C. 36-1-2-6(3) designates the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville as the
Fiscal Body of said city; and
WHEREAS, I.C. 36-1-2-9(3) designates the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville as the
Legislative Body of said city; and
WHEREAS, I.C. 36-4-7-2(b) states the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville shall fix the
annual compensation of all elected city officers; and
WHEREAS, I.C. 36-4-7-2(a) defines "compensation" as the total of all money paid to an elected
city officer for performing duties as a city officer, regardless of the source of funds from which the money
is paid; and
WHEREAS, I.C. 36-4-7-2(a) further defines "compensation" to include insurance, retirement
benefits and pension benefits; and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
Section 1. This Ordinance shall set forth the annual compensation payable to elected officials of
the City of Jeffersonville for the calendar year 2020.
Section 2. From and after the first day of January 2020, the following elected officials of the City
of Jeffersonville, Indiana, shall receive the following annual compensation:
GENERAL FUND:
Mayor $84,000.00
Clerk $70,000.00
Council President $17,000.00
Councilpersons (8) $15,000.00
SEWAGE DEPARTMENT:
Mayor, Sewage Board President $20,000.00
Mayor, Sewage Board Member $5,000.00

Section 3. Cellular Phones. Elected Officials may elect to receive$50.00 per month stipend in lieu
of receiving cell provided by the City.

Section 4. Vehicles. Employees eligible for take home vehicles will be governed by the City
Vehicle Policy. All current IRS regulations governing take home vehicles will apply in calculating
compensation relating to personal use of the vehicle.
Section 5. Retirement Benefits. The State of Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS) specifies
the employer share required to be paid by the City of Jeffersonville to fund the respective employee
retirement accounts. In addition, the Council has approved the payment of the 3% employee share for
those eligible employees.The
Section 6. Other Benefits including Insurance. Elected Officials are provided those benefits
section set forth on pages 42-47 of the City of Jeffersonville Policy and Procedure Manual adopted on
March 20, 2017 and as amended. Said Manual is hereby incorporated.
Section 7. Board Stipends. Elected Officials may elect to receive stipends for service on eligble
boards and commission. Those stipends are set forth in the General Salary Ordinance adopted annually
by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville.
Section 8. Total Compensation. This Ordinance establishes the total compensation for Elected
Officials as required by I.C. 36-4-7-2.
Section 9. Effectiveness. This Ordinance shall be adopted after the passage by the Common
Council of the City of Jeffersonville and approved by the Mayor of the City of Jeffersonville, or timely
override his veto. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of January 1, 2020.
