MINUTES
September 25, 2019

CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:33 a.m.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Mr. Waiz made the motion to approve the minutes from
September 18, 2019, seconded by Mr. Crouch and motion passed 3-0.
APPROVAL OF THE PAYROLL: Mr. Crouch made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by
Mr. Waiz and motion passes 3-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
Larry Wallace/Linda Mills—Hearing on 420 Locust in regards to demolition of property(property
owner—Elaine N Ronau)Tabled from August 21, 2019
Mr. Wallace—new owner, Dax Whitehouse, closing tomorrow on this property(also owns 418
Locust) to tear down house to expand on 418 (currently resides at 3505 Chateau Way Floyds Knobs).
Mr. Wallace has shared demo contractor infomation and suggested allowing 30 days for the work to be
complete. Mr. Whitehouse was present and understood requirements.
Mr. Crouch made the motion to continue hearing on October 30, 2019 only if house is not down;
seconded by Mr. Waiz and motion passes 3-0.
Larry Wallace— Hearing on 419 West Market Street in regards to demolition of property(property
owners, Donald and Reynalda Whiteside)—Continued from September 18,2019.
Mr. Wallace—the owner is requesting one more week to complete code requirements.
Mr. Whiteside is present and confirmed he needs more time.
Mr. Waiz made the motion to continue until October 2, 2019; penalties will be fined until
completed; seconded by Mr. Crouch and motion passes 3-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Larry Wallace- Request for approval of demolition of 902 Assembly Drive due to explosion in
Capitol Hills on May 19, 2019.
Mr. Wallace—this house is next door(south) to the house that exploded and since been
condemned. Carla Miller, owner is present and indicated that the house is up for auction (with instruction
that the house must be demolished) which ends October 3, 2019.
Mr. Merkley stated because the house will be sold soon no action taken.
Jeffersonville Board of Public Works-September 25, 2019
Kenny Kavanaugh/Scott McVoy—Request for approval of Resolution Approving the Transfer of
2007 Ford Crown Victoria to New Albany Floyd County Schools, Prosser Career Education Center
Mr. Waiz made the motion to approve the Resolution 8; seconded by Mr. Crouch and motion
passes 3-0.
Nathan Pruitt—Request for approval of Statement of Work for Performing Service Work on Bike
Fix-it Stations for the City between Fall City Community Bike Works and the City
Mr. Pruitt indicated this is for 12 bike stations throughout the City and funds are available in the
budget.
Mr. Crouch made the motion to approve the work, seconded by Mr. Waiz and motion passes 3-0.
Sara Simpson—Request for approval of road closure on Riverside Drive from Mulberry Street to
Locust Street on Friday, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the
King Kat Fishing Tournament
Ms. Simpson indicated this is necessary for the boats to line up at weigh in time for the contest.
Ms. Simpson also requested road closure on Saturday, September 28th the Fisherman Warf close for the
"Touch a Truck" event from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Crouch made the motion to approve the road closures, seconded by Mr. Waiz and motion
passes 3-0.
ADDITIONAL NEW BUSINESS:
Mayor Moore—indicated at the neighborhood meeting last night with Windy Pines and Raintree
Ridge that residents were concerned with parking near the entrance restricting traffic down to one lane.
After discussion with Department Heads Mayor Moore made the mo ion to post no parking signs at the
entrance down to the side street; seconded by Mr. Crouch and motto passes 3-0.
