BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 7, 2016
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mike Moore, Mayor, Rob Waiz, Redevelopment Director, Les Merkley,
Corporate Counsel, Len Ashack, Director of Waste Water, Bill Dixon, Assist Engineer, Phil
Caldwell, Director of Vehicle Maintenance, Eric Hedrick, Chief of JFD, Bruce DeArk, Assistant
Chief JFD, Janet Mayrose, Admin Assistant Redevelopment, Matt Dyer, IT Director, Sara Green,
Director Animal Shelter, Rick Lovan, Community Liaison, Heather Metcalf, Controller, Clark
Miles, Street Commissioner Paul Northam, Park Superintendent, Christy O'Neil, Admin Assistant
Mayor, Nathan Pruitt, Director of Planning and Zoning, Delynn Rutherford, Grant Writer, Larry
Wallace, Building Commissioner.
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: Mr. Waiz made the motion to APPROVE the
minutes from August 31, 2016 meeting, seconded by Mr. Lovan passing on a vote of 3-0.
APPROVAL OF PAYROLL: Mr. Lovan made motion to APPROVE payroll, seconded by Mr. Waiz
passing on a vote of 3-0.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Kenney Kavanaugh - Request for approval of Memorandum of Agreement between Greater
Clark County Schools and Security Pros, LLC (allowing the Jeffersonville Police Department
Access to GCCS video documentation for security purpose) Chief Kavanaugh presented the
request in regards of the MOW. Mr. Waiz made the motion to APPROVE, seconded by Mr.
Lovan passing on a vote of 3-0.
2. Kenny Kavanaugh and Kevin Morlan - Request for approval to reserve eight (8) boat slips
at Fisherman's Warf on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM for a Public
Safety Open House for River Patrol. Major Morlan presented the request stating the
Department would be setting up and breaking down requesting 8:09 AM —413M. Mr. Waiz
made the motion to APPROVE, seconded by Mr. Lovan passing on a vote of 3-0.

3. Paul Northam - Request for road closures as follows.
A. Sunday September 11, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 P.M. along Riverside Drive, normal
route, for the Drifter's Series 9K Event. Mr. Northam presented the request stating this is
the first time the run has started at 11:00 A.M. Mayor Moore asked if the Restaurants have
been notified as this is the busiest time for the restaurants on Sundays at Noon. Mr.
Northam stated he was not sure but would find out. Chief Kavanaugh asked if Clarksville
had been contacted, as this 9K will be going through Clarksville. Mr. Northam stated he was
not sure and would contact the event person. Mr. Waiz made the motion to APPROVE
contingent the event person contacts the Restaurants, Town of Clarksville and JPD be
notified that this has taken place, seconded by Mr. Lovan passing on a vote of 3-0.
B. Saturday October 29, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM along Riverside Drive, normal
route and adding closure to Market and Mulberry for Halloween 5K. Mr. Lovan made the
motion to APPROVE, seconded by Mr. Waiz passing on a vote of 3-0.
4. Eric Hedrick—Request for roadblocks on September 13, 14, 15, 2016 for Fire Union 558
Hunger Awareness, Chief Hedrick presented the request stating September is Hunger
Awareness Month and the Fire Union wants to set up roadblocks for monetary donations
for the Community Kitchen. Chief Hedrick continued the request stating the Fire Union
would like to designate Crusade for Children and Hunger Awareness Month as the only two
roadblocks yearly to be approved by the Board of Public Works. Mr. Lovan made the
motion to APPROVE, seconded by Mr. Waiz passing on a vote of 3-0.
5. Justin Ames— Request for Fire Vintage Museum on September 17, 2016 usage of Riverfront
Marina for drafting water. Captain Ames presented the request on behalf of the Fire
Vintage Museum taking several of the old apparatus drafting the water from the River and
shooting back into the River from the apparatuses. Mr. Waiz made the motion to
APPROVE, seconded by Mr. Lovan passing on a vote of 3-0.3

With no further business of the Board Mr. Lovan made the motion t A JOU N, seconded by
Mr. Waiz. Meeting adjourned at 9:55 A.M.
