BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MINUTES
OCTOBER 5, 2016

CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING: Mr. Owen made the motion to APPROVE the
minutes from September 28, 2016 meeting, seconded by Mr. Lovan passing on a vote 3-0
APPROVAL OF PAYROLL: Mr. Owen made a motion to APPROVE payroll, seconded by Mr. Lovan passing
on a vote 3-0
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
Jena Hilliker—Requesting for approval of a Handicap Sign be placed at 812 Mechanic Street. This has
already been approved by the Jeffersonville Police Department. Mr. Lovan made a motion to APPROVE
the Handicap Sign and seconded by Mr. Owen passing on a vote of 3-0.
Clark Miles—Request for approval of 2 (Two) stop signs on New Chapel Road to make it a 3 (Three)way
stop at Sundance. City Engineer Crouch advised that work is being done at that intersection. Chief
Kavanaugh advised that the sign would have to be set back from the intersection. Mr. Lovan made a
motion to APPROVE the stop sign and seconded by Mayor Moore passing on a vote 2-1 with Mr. Owen
opposing.
Clark Miles—Request for approval of speed limit sign on Middle Road near FOP Lodge. This would be
for 35 miles per hour. Mr. Owen made motion to APPROVE the stop sign and seconded by Mr. Lovan
passing on 3-0 vote.
Paul Northern—Request for approval of paving at Duffy's Landing but Mr. Northern requested that this
be tabled. Mr. Owen made motion to APPROVE and table the request and seconded by Mr. Lovan
passing on a vote 3-0.
Ed Siewert—Request for approval of street closure of Charlestown Avenue at the 400 Block in front of
Maple Elementary School on October 28, 2016 for Fall Festival from 4:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. They will
also conduct Trick a Treating during this time and Chief Kavanaugh had not issues with the request. Mr.
Owen made the motion to APPROVE the closure and seconded by Mr. Lovan passing on a vote of 3-0.
Kim Ruoff—Request for approval of Handicap Sign at 210 East Park Place and request for installation of
a cut in the sidewalk. Mr. Lovan made a motion to APPROVE contingent upon agreement from City
Engineer Crouch and Chief Kavanaugh. City Engineer Crouch advised that they will make a cut at the
curb. Mr. Owen seconded the motion passing on a vote 3-0.
Bob Bittner—Resident of Hidden Lakes, request/discussion of Road Improvements on Hamburg Pike
from YMCA to Coopers Lane and portions of Coopers Lane. Mayor Moore requested that this area is not
to be patched but milled and repaved. Mr. Owen made a motion to APPROVE the paving, seconded by
Mr. Lovan passing on a vote 3-0.
Ray Michael—Request for approval of Handicap Parking Sign at 814 East Maple Street. Chief Kavanaugh
will check out the area. Mr. Lovan made a motion to APPROVE the request for the handicap Parking
Sign, pending JPD approval, seconded by Mr. Owen passing on a vote of 3-0.
Andrew Tennyson with August Mack Environmental— Request for approval to install environmental
borings around the 100 block of West Court Avenue. Information for the Board of Public Works and
with no action needed.
ADJOURNMENT:
With no further action needed from the Board of Public Works, Mr. Lovan made the motion to
ADJOURN, seconded by Mr. Owen. The meeting adjourned at 9:55 A.M.
