WHEREAS, Chapter 152 of the Jeffersonville Codc of Ordi nanccs (Ordinance No_ 97-
012-20) provides for the establishment ofHistoric Districts within the City of -Jeffersonville,
Indiana (`the City").
WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville Historic Preservation Commission ("the Commission")
has conducted a survey identifying historic buildings, structures and places located in the City
and has prepared a reap describing the -following real estate as a proposed Single -Site Historic
District:
Being a part of Lot Nos_ 57 and 58 and a part of original F -sigh Street in thc- Town of -Port Fulton
ws shown in Plat Book 4, Page 14 of the Clark County, Indiana Records and being fit rthcr
described as Follows: Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot No_ 57, same being the original
southeast corner of -Jackson and High Streets; Thence north 32 degrees 39'40" west, 20.00 feet to
a drill hole on the existing southeast corner of Jackson and Iligh Streets; "fhence north 58
degrees 05' 20" cast, along the existing southern line of High Street 110.00 feet to a point;
"Thence south 32 degrees 39'40" east. 1 1 O lett to an iron pipe in the line dividing Lot Nos_ 58 and
59; Thence south 58 degrees 05'20" west, 110.00 feet to an iron pipe in the- eastern line of
Jackson Street; "Thence north 32 degrees 39'40" west, along said eastern line 90.00 Fact to the
true place of beginning. C'on twining 12,099 Square Feet, more or less_
Also, being a part of Lot Nos. 57 and 58 in the town of Port Fulton as shown in Plat 13ook 4,
Page 14 of the Clark County, Indiana Records and being further described as follows: beginning
at the northwest corner of the Lot No. 57, same being the original southeast corner of -Jack SO IR
and I Iigh Streets; "-hence south 32 degrees 39' 40" cast, along the eastern line of Jackson Street
90.00 feet to an iron pipe, the true place of -beginning. Thence north 58 degrees 05' 20" cast,
110_00 feet to an iron pipe in the line dividing Lot Nos. 58 and 59; "l -hence south 32 degrees 39'
40" cast, along said dividing line 100_00 feet to a point in the northern line of Market Street (30
foot right of way); "llience south 58 degrees 05' 20" west, along said northern line 1 10.00 feet to
a point on the northeast corner of Market and Jackson Streets; "Thence north 32 degrees 39' 40"
west, along the. eastern line ofJackson Street 100.00 feet to the true place of beginning_
Containing 10,999 Square Feet, more or Icss_
WHEREAS, after a public hearing held on December 9, 2013, preceded by proper
publication of -notice pursuant to the provisions of Indiana Code 5-3-1, the Commission proposed
the above described real estate be designated as the Du11y I Iouse Historic District; and
WHEREAS, the Coinrnission has submitted the attached map (Exhibit "A") and written
report (1?)chibit "I3") to the Common Council of -the City of -Jeffersonville, Indiana (the
"Council") with the Commission's recomniencfation that 213 Jackson Street Be designated a
Single -Site I Iistoric District known as the huffy House I listoric District.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED by the Council that 213 Jackson
Street is designated as a Single -Site Historic District to be known as the Duffy House Historic
District.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.

DESIGNATE THE JAMES DUFFY HOUSE (213 JACKSON ST.)
A HISTORIC DISTRICT
CERTIFICATION OF FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION
OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE
Whereas, THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION (the "Commission") initiated an
application to designate the James Duffy House (213 Jackson Street) a Historic District; and
Whereas, after proper notice by publication pursuant to Ordinance No. 152.08 Historic
Districts and Standards, the Commission held a public hearing on the application on December
9, 2013; and
Whereas, at the conclusion of the hearing the Commission voted by a majority vote of
its entire membership to favorably recommend the proposed designation of the property
known as the James Duffy House (213 Jackson Street) as a Historic District.
It is therefore certified that on December 9, 2013, the Commission favorably
recommended that the Jeffersonville Common Council enact by ordinance the proposed
designation of the property known as the James Duffy House (213 Jackson Street) as a Historic
District.

ON A CERTAIN TRACT OF PROPERTY KNOWN AS
213 JACKSON STREET
AND FULLY DESCRIBE IN EXHIBIT A
NOTICE OF HEARING ON ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH 213 JACKSON
STREET AS A SINGLE SITE HISTORIC DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that the Jeffersonville Historic Preservation Commission
has filed an Ordinance with the Jeffersonville City Council, Jeffersonville, Indiana asking
to establish a single site historic district on a certain tract of property located at 213
Jackson Street and fully described in Exhibit A.
A public hearing will be held on January 21, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council
Chambers, 1 st floor, City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court, Room 101, Jeffersonville,
Indiana at which time and place all interested persons will be heard in reference to the
matters set out in said ordinance.
