Home My WebLink AboutNovember 13, 2012 JEFFERSONVILLE POLICE MERIT COMMISSION NOVEMBER 13, 2012 Pro-tem Bonnie Deppert called the Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. on November 13, 2012 in the City Hall, Jeffersonville, Indiana. The following members were present: Bonnie Deppert, Clay "Beany" Smith, Jim Hall, Jeremy Snelling, Attorney Robert Bottorff and Patty Rush. Pro-tem Deppert presented the minutes from the October 9, 2012 meeting. Mr. Smith made motion to approve the minutes as presented and seconded by Mr. Snelling. Voted 4-0 Captain Jason Jackson addressed the Commission to submit a name for the vacancy on the Merit Commission, presenting the name of Dennis Henry. Motion was made by Mr. Smith to accept the appointee and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Judge Pierce was present to swear in Mr. Henry as a member of the Police Merit Commission. Voted 4-0 Attorney Bottorff advised the Commission that a President and Vice-President need to be installed. Mr. Smith nominated Dennis Henry for President and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 4-0 Attorney Bottorff advised need a nomination for Vice-President. Ms. Deppert made the nomination for Clay "Beany" Smith and seconded by Mr. Snelling. Voted -4-0 Attorney Bottorff presented the Ratifying Institute for Public Safety Personnel, Inc. contract which would also have to be installed into our budget. Mr. Snelling made motion to approve the contract as presented and seconded by Mr. Smith. Voted 5-0 A copy of Invoice # JEFPCRA2012.12 in the amount of $2,775.00 to IPSP. Mr. Smith made motion to pay the amount of $2,775.00 and seconded by Mr. Henry. Voted 5-0 The Commission had received information that 77 candidates passed the test for new hires, with 58 passed for interviews. Scheduling will be from 4:30 thru 7:30 P.M. beginning in January for interviews. They will not have a vacancy until one retires in April and one in August. Letters will be sent to the candidates that did not pass by the Human Resources Department. Chief Grimm addressed the Commission with recommendations for positions for Sergeants and Lieutenants. The first recommended was Sergeant Joe Hubband to be promoted to Lieutenant effective on January 2, 2012. Mr. Henry made motion to accept the recommendation and seconded by Mr. Snelling. Voted 5-0 7 1 Chief Grimm recommended Sergeant Chris Ueding to the rank of Lieutenant which will be effective on January 3, 2012. Mr. Snelling made motion to accept the recommendation and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 5 -0 Chief Grimm recommended Sergeant Rusty Settles to the rank of Lieutenant which will be effective on January 4, 2012. Mr. Snelling made motion to accept the promotion and seconded by Mr. Hall. Voted 5 -0 Chief Grimm recommended Sergeant Timothy Deeringer to the rank of Lieutenant which will be effective on January 5, 2012. Mr. Snelling made motion to accept the recommendation and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 5 -0 Chief Grimm recommended Corporal Jason Vangilder to the rank of Sergeant which will be effective on January 3, 2012. Mr. Henry made motion to accept the recommendation and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 5 -0 CLAIMS: A claim was presented to the Institute for Public Safety Personnel, Inc. for the amount of $360.00 for S. Anderson. Mr. Snelling made motion to approve payment for the claim and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 5 -0 A claim was presented from Attorney Bottorff on Invoice #3435 in the amount of $401.50 regarding fee for the month of October. Mr. Henry made motion to pay claim in the amount of $401.50 and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 5 -0 Our next meeting will be held on December 11, 2012. i ) ,.
