OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
JANUARY 30, 2013
Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:33am and on the call of roll were Councilperson Bryan
Glover and Public Works Coordinator Rick Lovan.
Also present: Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, Fire Chief Eric Hedrick, Assistant Fire Chief Josh
Thompson, IT Director Matt Dyer, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, City Engineer Andy Crouch,
WWTP Director Len Ashack, Storm Coordinator Deb Ashack, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby
Vissing, Assistant Street Commissioner Louie Galligan, Assistant Police Chief Greg Sumler, Sewer Office
Manager Elisha Dale, Controller Monica Harmon, City Attorney Les Merkley, Corporation Counsel Tom
Lowe, UEZ Director Kelly Reed, Redevelopment Director Rob Waiz, Planning and Zoning Director Shane
Corbin, Code Enforcement Officer Linda Mills, Executive Assistant Judith VanGilder, Administrative
Assistant Candy Stewart.
Mr. Lovan made a motion to approve the January 23, 2013, minutes with Councilperson Glover
seconding, PASSING on a vote of 3 -0.
Councilperson Glover made a motion to approve payroll, with Mr. Lovan seconding, PASSING on a vote
of 3 -0.
OLD BUSINESS:
None.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Linda Mills — 1628 Kehoe Lane: Code Enforcement Officer Linda Mills presented the BPW with a
property demolition request. Ms. Mills stated that she received a complaint in December, 2012,
on this property and describes the home as gutted inside with no support for walls. The
property owner was sent a certified letter from the Department of Planning and Zoning stating
that it was her right to attend today's BPW meeting. Planning and Zoning Director Shane Corbin
indicated that the house is beyond rehab and recommends demolishing the building with
Building Commissioner Russ Segraves agreeing. Mr. Corbin stated the cost of the demolition
comes out of the Unsafe Building Fund and a lien is put on the building owner. Ms. Mills stated
that the house was sold on a Tax Sale and currently has a miscellaneous lien on it. After
discussion, Mr. Lovan made the motion to demo 1628 Kehoe Lane for all the facts stated, with
Councilperson Glover seconding, PASSING on a vote of 3 -0.
2. Jerry Rauck — Riverstage Insurance: Mr. Rauck with the ISU Insurance and Investment Group
presented the insurance renewal coverage on the Riverstage. Mr. Rauck stated that the city is
currently insuring the stage itself through CNA for $400,000 with $1,000,000 for Liability and
Great American is carrying the Pollution Liability Coverage for $5,000,000. Mr. Rauck also
presented an Excess Liability Quote from Travelers Insurance Marine Division for $4,000,000,
consistent with the Excess Liability amount the city carries, for a total renewal of $14,000. After
discussion, Councilperson Glover made the motion to approve the contract with ISU for the
Riverstage insurance, seconded by Mr. Lovan, PASSING on a vote of 3 -0.
3. Mayor Moore — Lights at City Hall: Mayor Moore asked Mr. Segraves to change all the exterior
lights at City Hall to the color red beginning Friday, February 1, 2013, to commemorate
Women's American Heart Month.
Mayor Moore announced that Redevelopment Director Rob Waiz' birthday was today and
everyone wished him a happy birthday. Mayor Moore also told Mr. Waiz that he was very
impressed with his presentation last night. Mr. Waiz thanked Mayor Moore for his help.
Councilperson Glover made a motion to adjourn at 9:45am, with Mr. Lovan seconding, PASSING
unanimously.
