HomeMy WebLinkAboutDecember 11th, 2012 i JEFFERSONVILLE BUILDING AUTHORITY December 11, 2012 The regular meeting of the Jeffersonville Building Authority was held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. in the Building Commissioner's Conference Room on the second floor in the Jeffersonville City Hall. Present were Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Board Members Don Sperzel and Dennis Julius. Also present was Administrative Assistant Susan Robertson. MINUTES Mr. Sperzel made a motion to approve the October 9, 2012 minutes. The motion was seconded by Mr. Segraves. HISTORY & APPROPRIATION REPORTS The reports were not available for this meeting. LEASE ORDINANCE The new Lease Ordinance is to be presented to the City Council by the end of the year WA TER COOLER Mr. Segraves said that he had Water Energizer clean the cooling tower. He used them because they could do the job in one day. They also installed new screens and gaskets due to corrosion. BUDGET REDUCTION Controller Monica Harmon informed Mr. Segraves that the current budget needs to be reduced by 10 %. Mr. Segraves said the 10% reduction could come out of the account that has $25,000.00 in it. Mr. Segraves said he was going to have the interior of the whole building painted out of this account with the exception of the Police Department. He said he could paint only the lobby areas. Mr. Julius said there may be more cuts to come. SNOW REMOVAL Mr. Segraves talked with Chris at Walnut Ridge and agreed that we will call them on an as needed basis. Walnut Ridge removes snow from the entire development. HUMANRESOURSES RENOVATIONS Mr. Segraves said that the HR Department has hired a full time employee. The Judge's storage room will be converted for the new employee. A door will have to be installed. MEETING DATES FOR 2013 The dates for the 2013 Building Authority meeting will need to be advertised. City Attorney Les Merkley will take care of this. SECURITY CAMERAS Mr. Segraves updated the Board on the damage caused by lightning. Security Pros estimated the damage at $10,000.00. There is a $500.00 deductable. Mr. Segraves said there are currently 3 cameras on the police department side of the building and would like to see cameras installed in other areas. Mr. Julius said due the expense the Board needs to revisit the issue when we find out more about the money situation. LOBBY DOORS Richard Eklund brought up again the fact that it seems like one of the interior lobby doors is always open when he comes to the building which defeats the purpose of having them. Mr. Segraves said the doors are designed to work that way. He said he always pulls the door shut when he sees it open. He said he will look into different hinges. BOARD MEMBERS The one year appointment to the Board is up at the end of the year. Mr. Julius and Mr. Sperzel have both agreed to serve again. Mr. Julius said he will need to check with the City Council. The next meeting will be held on January 8, 2012.
