AUGUST 14, 2012
President Dennis Henry called the Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission
meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. on August 14, 2012 in the City Hall, Jeffersonville,
Indiana. The following members were present: President Dennis Henry, Vice - President
Stuart Robertson, Secretary Bonnie Deppert, Clay "Beany" Smith, Attorney Robert
Bottorff and Stenographer Patty Rush. Absent was Jeff Esarey.
President Henry presented the minutes from July 10, 2012 meeting. Mr. Smith
made motion to approve the minutes as presented and seconded by Ms. Deppert.
Passed 4 -0
President Henry and Commission discussed the procedures and process for
promotion for current Officers and hiring process for new applicants for the Jeffersonville
Police Department.
President Henry presented claim for Attorney fees on Invoice #2746 in the
amount of $160.00. Mr. Smith made motion to approve and seconded by Mr. Robertson.
Passed 4 -0
President Henry presented claim for Office Supply /applications in the amount of
$71.00. Ms. Deppert made motion to approve and seconded by Mr. Robertson.
Passed 4 -0
President Henry presented claim to News & Tribune /advertisement for new
applicants for the Jeffersonville Police Department in the amount of $816.44. Ms.
Deppert made motion to approve the claim and seconded by Mr. Smith. Passed 4 -0
Regarding the hiring schedule, Assistant Chief Scott Oliver and Captain Gary
Pavey will pick -up the application from Human Resources on October 6 2012. They
will begin to process and run back ground checks on each applicant.
Our next meeting will be held on September 11, 2012. Our meeting adjourned at
7:17 P.M.
