HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-R-27 RESOLUTION NO. 93-R-27 A RESOLUTION PROHIBITING PRIVATE CONTACT BETWEEN REPRESENTATIVES OF GAMING INTERESTS AND CERTAIN CITY OFFICIALS WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville has accepted proposals from gaming interests interested in locating a Riverboat operation in Jeffersonville; and WHEREAS, in order to achieve the best economic benefit for the City all ganfing interests should be provided an equal opportunity to compete for the riverfront property the City of Jeffersonville has made available for lease; and WHEREAS, individual or private contact between City Officials making a decision on lease of riverfront property and economically interested parties competing for lease of that property suggests an opportunity for inappropriately influencing City Officials. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL that until the City has accepted one of the proposals submitted this date for lease of City owned riverfront property that any gaming interest which has any contact with the Mayor of Jeffersonville or any Common Council member at any place other than a public meeting, or from publicly submitted documents, shall be ineligible to receive any lease of City property and shall not be recommended by the Common Council to receive a gaming license from the State Gaming Commission. Contact means any intentional communication, whether that communication be written, oral or otherwise, initiated or continued for purposes relating to riverboat gambling or related to the lease of City owned property. Gaming Interest means any corporation, person, business or other entity which is financially interested in the pending proposals for lease of riverfront property before the Common Council at this time. It also includes any corporation, person, business or other entity which is connected with, contractually obligated to or paid by a such a party competing for lease of City owned property.
