HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-R-04RESOLUTION 93 R ~ PUBLIC FORUM WHEREAS, the political process is enhanced by the exchange of ideas among the electorate and the elected; WHEREAS, all the citizens of Jeffersonville and the surrounding communities should be entitled to express their opinions, grievances and ideas in an open Forum; WHEREAS, in order to encourage this exchange of ideas citizen's should be permitted to speak during each council meeting; WHEREAS, in order to facilitate this exchange and to insure that it occurs in an orderly and organized fashion twenty minutes (20) should be allocated at the end of each meeting for public comment. a). That no individual shall be permitted to speak for more than five (5) minutes during this period. b). That anyone wishing to speak during this time shall be permitted to make said request prior to the meeting. c) That if the full twenty (20) minutes have not been utilized by those individuals who have previously requested time to speak then the remaining time can be utilized by individuals who have not requested time to speak prior to the meeting. d) That the President of the council shall recognize those individuals who have requested the opportunity to speak and shall be vested with the obligation to inform them if their time has expired. e) That if after each individual who has previously signed up speaks there remains any time in the "Public Forum" comments from the remaining citizens shall be permitted pursuant to those provisions set forth above; WHEREFORE, it be so resolved on this the /[,~ day of February, 1993. ~lVl6~D PARi(KER, MAYOR '
