HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-10-2012 JEFFERSONVILLE POLICE MERIT COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 10, 2012 President Dennis Henry called the Jeffersonville Merit Commission Meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. on January 10, 2012 in the City Hall, Jeffersonville, Indiana. The following members were present'. President Dennis Henry, Vice - President Stuart Robertson, Secretary Bonnie Deppert, Jeff Esarey, Clay "Beany" Smith, Attorney Robert Bottorff and Stenograph Patty Rush. President Henry presented minutes from the December 13, 2011. Mr. Smith made motion to approve the minutes and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Passed 5 -0 President Henry presented the 2011 Annual Report to the Merit Commission. Smith. Mr. Esarey made motion to approve the 2011 Annual Report and seconded by e 5 -0 Pas The election of new Officers for Police Merit Commission for the year of 2012. Mr. Smith nominated Dennis Henry for President and seconded by Mr. Robertson. 5 -0 Passed Ms. Deppert made motion to nominate Stuart Robertson as Vice- President and seconded by Mr. Esarey. Passed 5 -0 Mr. Esarey made motion to nominate Bonnie Deppert as Secretary and seconded by Mr. Smith. Passed 5 -0 President Henry addressed Assistant Chief Greg Sumler regarding Performance Evaluations. These evaluations are due at the end of the year. Assistant Chief Sumler requested an extension from the Commission. President Henry advised that the deadlines would be March 31, 2012 and September 30, 2012. Attorney Bottorff presented To Amendment #2012 -1 for Rules and Procedures Removing and Amending Language Rule & Procedure #5, Section I.B., Entitled "Rating Frequency". Mr. Smith made motion to accept and seconded by Mr. Esarey. Pass ed 5 -0 President Henry advised that the Commission was dissatisfied with the previous administration regarding the evaluation not being completed at the end of year for 2011. President Henry submitted a letter from Officer Stephen Dean Jr. of his resignation effective January 15, 2012. He will be taking a fob in Germany with Department of Army. Steve is taking a job in Germany with the Department of the Army. Steve's last day is January 15, 2012 (see attached letter). This resignation will open the hiring process for the CURRENT certified list of applicants.
