January 10, 2012
The regular meeting of the Jeffersonville Building Authority was held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at
9:00 a.m. in the conference room on the third floor in the Jeffersonville City Hall.
Present were Mayor Mike Moore, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Board Members Don Sperzel
and Bill Fry and Secretary Susan Robertson. The Board agreed to have Steve Hardin fill Keith Stayton's
vacancy. Mr. Segraves will talk with the City Council as this is their appointment.
The Mayor had a 9:30 a.m. appointment so Mr. Segraves changed the order of the items listed on the
agenda.
2 AND 3' FLOOR RENOVATIONS
Mr. Segraves showed the proposed renovations on the second and third floor which basically consists of
demolition and rebuilding walls and re- hanging doors. It is going to be $100.00 per door cheaper to use a
new door instead of reusing the existing doors because the installation will be easier. After looking at
the rY lengths Mr. Fry asked about exit hs since so many doors were being moved. Mr. Segraves said it

want to do a T &M which
AML 's cost of the renovations is $50,828.00 guaranteed cost listed, but they w a
could save money. Mayor Moore made a motion to present the proposal to the Board of Public Works
and Safety. The motion was seconded by Mr. Fry.
2012 BUDGET
Mr. Segraves went over the 2012 budget.
CLEANING CONTRACT
Mr. Segraves said he is rethinking the contract. He thinks an 8 hour shift would work better than the
split shifts. The board was in agreement with Mr. Segraves.
LIGHTING
Mr. Segraves showed a picture of how the new exterior lights look at night. He explained to the Mayor
that it was much cheaper to buy new lights than buy parts for the old ones. Next month a red film will
be added to the lights on the building as well as the fountain to show respect for the Wear Red for the
{ Heart Association Day. Mr. Segraves said he has the lights to light up the canopy. Mr. Fry asked why
the cupola was not lighted. Mr. Segraves said the bulbs are probably burnt out, and it is not an easy job
to replace them. He will look into it after the renovation is completed.
SNOW REMOVAL
Mr. Segraves said the contract with Walnut Ridge is not a yearly contract, it is a seasonal contract and
they are paid per snow. The Mayor suggested city employees do the work. He said he has already

talked with the Street Department and they said they could do the work. The Mayor complemented the
Street Department on how well they take care of snow removal. Mr. Fry said the only problem he sees is
if we have a major snow fall that may pose a problem because the city workers will be needed on the
streets. He felt this area should be one of the first areas cleaned because everything needs to be managed
from City Hall.
GRASS CUTTING
Mayor Moore felt the city employees could take of the grass cutting. He said Walnut Ridge could
probably do a better job on the landscape. Mr. Fry said one reason Walnut Ridge is being used is
because they do the entire complex. After a discussion the Mayor suggested we keep everything the
same for now. Mr. Segraves said we are under contract for snow removal but not grass cutting.
