OF JEFFERSONVILLE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION
OF A TRANSPORTATION E~HANCEMENT ACTIVITY GRANT
APPLICATION AND ALLOCATING FUNDS NEEDED TO
MEET THE LOCAL MATCH REQUIREMENT
WHEREAS, the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act
of 1991 required states to allocate a portion of their Surface
Transportation Program funds to projects that enhance
transportation corridors in local communities;
WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville Master Plan was completed in
November, 1992, to give direction to the city as it creates a
viable, enjoyable area f~ citizen enjoyment along its riverfront;
WHEREAS, one provision of the Master Plan calls f'or 'the
enhancement and improvement of existing conditions along Riverside
Drive in Jeffersonville, Indiana; and,
WHEREA~; the Transportation Enhancement Activity Program
offers one means through which the City of Jeffersonville may fund
the improvements scheduled for Riverside Drive and the surrounding
park-like area;
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, THAT:
1. The Common Council of the city of Jeffersonville hereby
authorizes the submission of an application to the Indiana
Department of Transportation for Transportation Enhancement
Activity funds in the amount of $500,000.
2. In addition, the Common Council hereby allocates $125,000
to meet the local match requirement for this grant program. The
allocation of these funds is contingent upon the award of this
grant to the City of Jeffersonville.
