DESCRIPTION OF WORK COVERED BY THIS DIRECTIVE CHANGE:
Contractor shall revise sanitary force main route as per JTL drawings provided on 7/22111 (see attached).
Additionally, Contractor shall tunnel under Spring Street to avoid prolonged closure of street. Cost
includes pipe and fittings and installation but does not include adjustments in quantities of
appurtenances (such as air release valves) from original bid.
REASON FOR THIS ORDER:
Original force main route included railroad crossings and a significant length of pipe in the railroad right
of way. The City was unable to obtain the required railroad permits for the railroad crossings and also
were notified that the railroad would require all pipe in their right of way to be ductile iron. The original
force main route specified all PVC pipe, which the Contractor has already submitted and purchased. The
ductile iron piping requirement resulted in the original route being cost prohibitive to the City. Therefore
JTL, at the direction of the City, developed an alternate force main route to avoid railroad property.
Additionally, a large telephone duct bank was identified to be running north and south in Spring Street
that was not shown on the Contract Drawings. Due to the presence of this duct bank the City has opted
for the Contractor to tunnel under Spring Street to avoid a potential lengthy street closure.

AUTHORIZATION:
THIS WORK DIRECTIVE CHANGE AUTHORIZES THE WORK TO BE COMPLETED AS OUTLINED. A
Contract Change Order in the amount of $ 193,990.00 will be issued to you in the near
future to cover this WORK DIRECTIVE CHANGE.
