Jeffersonville, Indiana
CS Proposal No. 11G -5/13c V
Dear Mr. Hillman: t a a
We are pleased to present this proposal for a subsurface exploration at the referenced site in j
Jeffersonville, Indiana This proposal includes our understanding of the project information, ' ,i
the proposed scope of services, a Ifcc estimate, and a projected schedule. [ Q
PROJECT INFORMATION p
Project information was provided by Josh Darby of Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz, in an electronic 0 -
transmission on May 12, 2011. We received a plan of the proposed interceptor extending V1r=
from the existing Veterans Parkway Pump station, across multiple commercial properties and Z 'lit;
Hamburg Pike, along Rock Lan Road, across a residential property, and ending at the Crams Qa z E p
Lane 111 Pump Station. This allgnment was chosen as the proposed alignment based on Fp €=
findings related to a preliminary study of the previously proposed alignment along Cnnns V
Lane. The plan depicted the proposed alignment with proposed soundings to be located
approximately every 100 feet along the new portion of the alignment and borings to be located ce
near the intersection of Hamburg Pike and Rack Lane Road, on a residential property on Rock [r
Lane Road, and on an access driyc to the existing Crums Lane 11I Pump Station.
The new portion of the alignment is located crossing a commercial property wcst of Hamburg v
Pike for approximately 500 fee, crossing Hamburg Pike and extending down Rock Lane
a.
Road for approximately 1,500 ffeet, and down the pump station access drive to the pump
station for approximately 500 Met. The proposed project includes construction of new sewers s
along the route denoted.
sG
SCOPE OF WORK __ _ ; e.
s
it is our intent to conduct a subsurface exploration in order to obtain information about N s
subgrade support conditions and depths to rock at the site of the proposed structures. This
exploration is not designed to produce information concerning contamination or other
environmental conditions.

Boring and Sounding locations were designated by you and will be located in the field using
standard taping procedures and available fixed structures. No surveying equipment will be
utilized in this exploration.
At the time of the exploration, atruck - mounted drill rig will be mobilized to the project site.
(Weather conditions may delay mobilization doting periods of prolonged precipitation). The
drill rig apparatus will be useti to advance a total of three (3) borings and fifteen (15)
soundings to depths designated by you on the plan you provided. If refusal is encountered
above boring termination depth in the borings, rock coring will be performed to reach the
boring termination depth. If boring and sounding information varies significantly, additional
borings and soundings will be ativanced. These additional borings and soundings will not be
started without your prior approval.
Standard penetration testing will be performed at the ground surface and at depths of 1.5 feet, •
4.0 feet, 6.5 feet, 9.0 feet, and every five (5) feet thereafter, where possible until boring
termination depth is reached. Slilitspoon samples will be obtained at each test intervaL The •
samples will be classified in the field by an engineer from our firm and will be placed in
sealed jars and returned to the laboratory for testing. Rock samples will be placed in core .
boxes and returned to the laboratory for classification and testing.
Groundwater. levels will be recorded at boring termination in all of the borings. Upon • •
completion of three of the borings, they will be left open in ordcr to obtain twenty-four ]our
groundwater readings. All the borings will be backfilled after obtaining the twenty- four.hour
groundwater readings. If, at any time during field activities, unanticipated soil conditions that
could lead to significant design or construction difficulties are encountered, you will be
notified.
Laboratory testing of soil samples will include the following tests:
3 Moisture Content Profiles ( -21 tests)
1 Atterberg...imits Test
After field testing is complete, the subsurface information will be reviewed and evaluated and
a written report of our findings will be issued. The report will include:
-a description of the exploratory methods used
- descriptions of subsurface conditions encountered
- a srunmarylof published geologic information
- preliminary design recommendations, including:
- design bearing pressure
- additional design parameters, including:
estimated c and m values
moist and saturated unit weights
lateral earth pressure coefficients
- construction considerations, including:
backlit] placement
drainage ..

If, at any time during the pro*, unexpected or unusual conditions or information are
identified, the scope of work will be reviewed to confirm that it is still appropriate and
adequate. If additional exploration and/or testing are necessary, you will be notified, and the
added tasks will be submittal for your approval.
SCHEDULE
•
Based on our current workload, subsurface exploration can be started within seven to 10 •
days of authorization, weather pitting. It is anticipated.that exploratory activities can be • .
completed in two to three working days. As was previously noted, if, at any time during field
activities, unanticipated soil con bons that could lead to significant design or construction •
difficulties are encountered, you will be notified. A verbal report can be submitted within
four working days of the completion of field activities. A written report of the work can be
submitted within ten working days of the completion of field activities. If significant project .
delays arc experienced, you will be contacted to discuss the revised schedule.
FEE ESTIMATE
The scope of work provided in this proposal can be perforated for the lump sum fee of
$8,500.00 (eight thousand five bundred dollars). Our fee is based on one drill rig
mobilization, a total of 36 feet of Isoil test drilling, a total of twenty (20) feet of rock coring,
and a total of 30L feet of rock sotindings. This fee also is based on the assumption that the
site will be accessible to truck- rjiounted drilled equipment at the time of the subsurface
exploration. A11-terrain vehicles and/or heavy equipment needed to move the drill rig on
the site can be retained for an extra charge. If additional exploration or testing activities
are deemed necessary, a revised fee schedule will be provided for your approval. No
additional fees will be incurred without your prior approval. lf, at the client's request, at any
time after the start of this project prior to the completion of this project, the project is
terminated, a prorated fcc will be calculated based upon the work completed up to the point
that the project is terminated.
