HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-28-2010MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA July 28, 2010 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:32 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members present were Engineering Coordinator Lovan and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Parks Director Manor, Street Commissioner Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Building Commissioner Segraves, Officer Grimes, Police Chief Deeringer, Communications Director Thomas, Planning and Zoning Director Fogle, Fire Chief Harrod, WWTP Director Ashack, City Engineer Crouch, City Attorney Wilder, and Human Resources Representative Cohen. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from July 14, 2010, seconded by Engineering Coordinator Lovan and passing unanimously. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from July 21, 2010, seconded by Engineering Coordinator Lovan and passing unanimously. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve payroll, seconded by Councilperson Wilson, and passing on a vote of 3-0. OLD BUSINESS Handicap Parking Derek Thorton came before the board to request a handicap parking. He was instructed to get with Officer Grimes and Dave Hosea. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve, Engineering Coordinator Lovan seconded and passing unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Request for Bridge Closure Jessica Whirt with the American Cancer Society came before the board to request a bridge closure on October 24, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve, Engineering Coordinator Lovan seconded, passing on a vote of 3-0. Request for Road Name Change Tom Vittitow came before to the board to request that Water Line Road be changed to Paul Garrett. Engineer Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve and Councilperson Wilson seconded, passing unanimously. Request to Hang Sign Engineering Coordinator brought before the board a request from One Southern Indiana to hang a sign over Court Avenue. The sign will be hung from 9-2-2010 to 9-9-2010. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve, Councilperson Wilson seconded, passing on a vote of 3-0. Charlestown Pike Sidewalks Josh Hillman with Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz came before the board to give them the total for the small 1ft. tall decorative wall at the Charlestown Pike Sidewalks. The total cost will be $11,832.00. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve, Councilperson Wilson seconded, passing unanimously. Tim Deeringer brought before the board a question brought by the Conservation Officers about painting where there needs to be Boat Safety. There being no further discussion to be brought before the board, Engineering Coordinator made the motion the adjourn at 10:00 a.m. Councilperson Wilson seconded, passing unanimously.
