HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-21-2010 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA APRIL 21, 2010 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Police Chief Deeringer, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Parks Director Manor, Building Commissioner Segraves, Assistant Police Chief Grimes, Safety Director Mongarella, Fire Chief Harrod, WWTP Director Ashack, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Code Enforcement Officer Frey, Growth Coordinator Lovan, IT Director Hardy, Sewer Office Manager Wright, Executive Assistant Young, City Attorney Wilder, Planning and Zoning Director Fogle, Personnel Director Calabro, Communications Director Thomas, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 4-14-10 as presented, and seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, and seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS RETIREES INSURANCE/OVER 65 Pepper Cooper presented an insurance plan for retirees over age 65 to the Board for approval. He said he looked at the marketplace and found a good plan that will cost the City nothing. He said all retirees past and present would be eligible at a cost of $200.00 per month with automatic check withdrawal. After some discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to sponsor the Retiree Medicare Supplement starting in July 2010, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. WELLNESS PROGRAM Pepper Cooper asked the Department Heads to send a representative from their departments to the Wellness Program meetings when they can't attend. VENDOR PERMIT FOR MOBILE HOT DOG CART Rick Macina appeared before the Board to request approval for a mobile hot dog cart at all city events. The police department will do a check before final approval is given. CHANDLER FLORENCE MEMORIAL WALK Kim Florence asked the Board to approve the annual Chandler Florence Memorial Walk on May 15, 2010 at Warder Park from 10 am to 1 pm. Mayor Galligan told her to get with the Parks Dept. on the use of Warder Park. LANE CLOSURE ON TENTH STREET Terry Murgia asked approval to close a lane on Tenth Street for one day to locate fiber optics. Engineer Miller said he will need an arrow board and Attorney Wilder said he will need a Certificate of Insurance. The Engineer's office will give him the permit needed to do the work. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the lane closure for the work to be performed, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. 4105 UTICA PIKE/GLENN MUNCY Building Commissioner Segraves said this item had been tabled last week and Mr. Muncie didn't appear this week. Mayor Galligan asked who owns the property and Code Enforcement Officer Frey said she would check and report back. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:57 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
