HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-24-2010TES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINU OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MARCH 24, 2010 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Police Chief Deeringer, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Assistant Fire Chief Lee, Growth Coordinator Lovan, WWTP Director Ashack, Animal Control Officer White, Fire Chief Harrod, Inspector Hardin, Emergency Planner Christian, Sewer Officer Manager Wright, Planning and Zoning Director Fogle, Personnel Director Calabro, Assistant City Engineer Crouch, Attorney Wilder, Councilperson Smith, Parks Director Manor, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Street Commissioner Hosea, Assistant Police Chief Grimes, IT Director Hardy, Safety Director Mongarella, Communications Director Thomas, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 3-17-09 as presented, and seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, and seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS APEX ALARM/DOOR TO DOOR Aaron Lee asked the Board for approval to go door to door selling alarm systems. He said they have a new system with remote access. They plan to do this for about two months. Mayor Galligan told him to give all his information to Officer Grimes and bring back to the Board for approval next week. SIDEWALK HOT DOG VENDOR Tim Minard asked permission to sell hot dogs on the City sidewalks. He has a portable pull behind cart. He plans to work special events also. Mayor Galligan said he would need to get permission from the individual event coordinators. Mayor Galligan told him to give his information to Officer Grimes and bring back to the Board for approval next week. FROSTY TREATS Sherri Pool asked for a permit renewal to sell ice cream. Mayor Galligan told her to give Officer Grimes her information and bring back to Board next week for approval. CITIZENS ACTION COALITION A request was made by fax from the Citizen's Action Coalition to go door to door gathering signatures and taking donations. A list of people who will be going door to door were supplied. Officer Grimes will check the information and bring back next week for final approval. DOOR TO DOOR SALES Terry Alhashem inquired about door to door sales and fund raising in front of stores. Mayor Galligan said she couldn't go door to door or stand in front of businesses selling raffles tickets. She said she would seek permission on private property to sell raffle tickets and take donations. Mayor Galligan said she would need to get written permission from the businesses and give to the Police Department to keep on file. NORTHAVEN NEIGHBORS/BANNERS Donna Glass asked the City to erect eight banners in Northaven Subdivision. Mayor Galligan said this wouldn't be a problem but she would need permission from Duke Energy to use their poles. He also suggested a cap on the end of the pole so the banners don't blow off. KENTUCKY DERBY MARATHON Major Grimes said there will be street closures for the Kentucky Derby Marathon. He checked with the City Engineer's office to make sure no construction is being performed during that time. CROWE HORWATH Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the Project Assignment with Crowe Horwath to be paid by the hour, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. STREET CLOSURE Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Sassafras Alley being closed for a half day on March 24, 2010, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
