. Police Merit Commission
December 29, 2009.
The Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission met on December 29, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at
City Hall. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Dr. Stuart Robertson. The
following members were present: Dr. Stuart Robertson, Ms. Bonnie Deppert, Mr. Jeff
Esarey, Mr. Dennis Henry, and Mr. Clay "Beany" Smith, also present were Mr. Robert
Bottorff, Attorney and Tiffany Timberlake Meeting Stenographer.
Minutes
Commission Member Smith made the motion to approve the minutes for the December 7,
2009 meeting, seconded by Commission Member Henry and passed on a vote 5-0.
Commission President Robertson announced that this is a Public Hearing on the
Police Merit Commission's Rules and Procedures.
Rules and Procedures
Commission Member Henry made the motion to go through the Rules and Procedures
draft and make the agreed upon changes without making individual motions for each
change. The motion was seconded by Commission President Robertson and passed 5-0.
The Commission discussed and made the following changes to the Rules and Procedures:

I. Application - Insert "Applications will be accepted 2 times per year. The first
time being in January and the second in July."
V. Initial Physical Screening Test- Add "total" after 21 on the push-ups standard.
VI. Personal Interviews- Add Ranking/Interview form created by Commission
Member Henry as a means to rank possible applicants based on interview.
VII. Applicant Rating- Remove the paragraph at the bottom of this section.
Add section defusing Passing Accumulative Score is 80%.
1X. Make new section Applicant Rating Report. Fix all sections subsequent to this
change.
VIII. Applicant Eligibility List- Remove the line "However, a new list may not be
certified prior to two years if there are any applicants remaining on the old
list."
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday January 12, 2010 at 6:00.
Commission Member Smith made the motion to adjourn at 6:00 p.m. seconded by
• Commission Member Esarey and carried unanimously.
