HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-04-2009CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT MERIT BOARD Thursday, June 4, 2009 6:00 PM The Jeffersonville Fire Department Merit Board met Thursday, June 4, 2009 in the City Council Conference Room, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN. The following were present: David Martin -President Lee Taylor -Vice President Ron Glass -Board Member Lyn Ackermon -Board Member Jeff Frey -Board Member CALL TO ORDER: Mr. Martin called the meeting to order at 6:10 PM. MINUTES: Mr. Martin asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the May 21, 2009 meeting. Mr. Frey made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 21, 2009 meeting. Mr. Glass seconded. Motion approved unanimously. SELECTION OF ATTORNEY: Mr. Frey reported that Mr. Greg Clark submitted a letter requesting the job as Merit Board Attorney. Lee Taylor and Lynn Ackermon have other candidates they would like to interview if they are still interested. They will report back at the next meeting. Mr. Clark will be interviewed at the next meeting. POLICY MANUAL: Mr. Lee, Mr. Glass and Mr. Ackermon will form a committee to write the policy for the Merit Board and the Rules and Policy Manual for new hires The State Statute will be part of the policy manual. Everything in the Ordinance should be included in the policy manual. JEFF FREY REPORT: Mr. Frey reported that he talked to Kim Calabro and that she used Career Builder Monster.Com and The Evening News to advertise for hiring. She does not use the Courier Journal. Ms. Calabro does her own background checks. Ms. Calabro also uses Public Safety Medical for the physicals. The Fire Department does not have their own web site. The City has a web site and the Fire Department has a link. Mr. Frey will look into what it takes to add information to the site. ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Martin asked if there was any additional business. Hearing none Mr. Glass made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 7:3 OPM. The next meeting with be June 11, 2009 at 6:00 PM APPROVED: ~` David Martin, President
