HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-04-2009 L MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MARCH 4, 2009 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Police Chief Deeringer, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, City Attorney Wilder, Parks Director Manor, Assistant Fire Chief Grant, IT Director Hardy, Safety Director Lovan, Sewer Office Manager Mattingly, Building Commissioner Segraves, Fire Chief Harrod, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Assistant Police Chief Pavey, Personnel Director Calabro, City Engineer Crouch, Street Commissioner Hosea, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Executive Assistant Young, Communications Director Thomas, Receptionist Boone, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 2-25-09 as presented, and • seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, and seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS RESIDENT ONLY SIGN/428 LOCUST STREET APT. 4 Morris Dillard appeared before the Board to request a resident only parking sign in front of his apartment at 428 Locust Street. The police department will check the location. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the request pending police approval, and seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. REQUEST TO ABANDON ROAD RIGHTS Jim Williams of River Ridge Development Authority requested the Boards approval to vacate Old Salem Road, Track 6 in River Ridge. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve vacating Old Salem Road, Track 6 in River Ridge, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. • INSTALLATION OF HISTORICAL LANDMARK Jeffrey Caldwell came before the Board in regard to installing a historical marker in front of Taylor High School. He asked that the City install it. An event is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the installation of the marker and approval of blocking the street north and south for two and one half hours on April 4, 2009, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. FUNDRAISER/CRUSADE FOR CHILDRED Firefighter Pam Blanchard asked permission from the Board to hold a yard sale on city property on Renfro Way the first weekend in April or a rain date the second week in May. The yard sale will start on Saturday morning and run until Sunday evening at 6 pm. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the yard sale on Renfro Way, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. HANDICAPPED PARKING Leigh Wynn of 816 Indiana Avenue told the Board that people are parking in her handicapped parking spot and doesn't know what to do about it. She asked if it could be changed to Reserved Handicapped Parking. Mayor Galligan said this could not be done. He said the police department will monitor the situation. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:50 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
