NOTE 1 - SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES
PRINCIPLES OF CONSOLIDATION - The accompanying financial statements are for Jackson Associates,
Inc.. and all .of its wholly owned subsidiaries, Coupe Construction Co. and Woodbin~ Construction Co. All
material intercompany transactions and balances have been eliminated.
BASIS OF PRESENT A TlON-.;... Fhlanoial statements prepared in conformity with generally accepted accpunting
principles rsquireri1anagement to make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amount of assets
~nd Iiabilities'and disclosure of contingent assets and liabilities at the dates of the financial statements, and the
reported amounts of revenues and, expenses during the reporting periods. Actual results could differ from
these estimates. '
NATURE OF BUSINESS - Substantial operations occur in subsidiaries, Coupe Constru, etion a.nd Woodbine'
Construction. Coupe Construction operates as' a union construction company and V\foOc:lbin~,. Cpnstruction
operates as a ,non-union construction yompany. 'Both companies operatE;l in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
and its surrounding states. Both companies extend credit on construction contracts. Jackson Associates, Inc.,
the parent company, acts as amanagememt company to the 'subsidiaries and holds all propertY and equipment.
f'
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT INCOME - Construction contract e<;lmings are reported on the percentage-of-
completion rpethod. On projects where the amount of progress is subject to physical measurement, the
amount of earnings recognized at the statement date is that' portion of the total contract price that the work
completed. bears to the total work required. On projects or elements of projects where a reliable ,physical
m~.asyreirientof progress is not available, the' amount of earnings r~cogniied' 9fth~ statemen~ P?t~js tha.t.
portion or the total contract price that the .cost expended bears to the anticipated final cost, based on current
estimates of cost ,to complete the project. When an ultimate loss is indicated on a contract, the entire
estima~ed loss'is recorded 'in the current period. -
Assets and liabilities. related to these contracts are included in current assets and current liabilities in the
accompanying balance sheets, as they will be liquidated in the normal course of contract completion, although
this may require more than one year.
CONTRACTS RECEIVABLE - The Company grants credit to its customers. Receivables are valued at
management's estimate of the amount that will ultimately be collected at June 30, 2005.-An allowance for
doubtful accounts is not considered necessary because management believi3s -th-i:1t. C!1l rece.iVa~Jes are
collectible. At 'June 30, 2004, the allowance for doubtful accounts was based ,0[1 sPEJci~cidebtification on
uncollectible accounts and the Company's historical collection experience. .
