AN ORDINANCE CREATING AN ADVISORY DRAINAGE BOARD
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville through its Board of Public Works & Safety
("the Board") operates a wastewater sewage utility known as the Jeffersonville
Sewage Utility; and
WHEREAS, because the collection system operated by the Jeffersonville
Sewage Utility is a combined system (i.e. it collects storm water as well as
wastewater), proper storm water drainage in the City is essential for the efficient
operation of the Jeffersonville Sewage Utility; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville recently completed a storm water drainage
plan (the "Plan") which was partially funded by a fifty thousand dollar
($50,000.00) Community Development Block Grant from the State of Indiana;
and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville ("the Council") and
the Board believe that it is in the City's best interest that the Plan be implemented
as rapidly as available funds will allow; and
WHEREAS, the Board is in need of a group of citizens to oversee and facilitate
implementation of the Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Council and the Board believe that such a group should include
representatives of each of the five geographic Council districts in the City as well
as representation from the fringe areas over which the Jeffersonville Plan
Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals exercise zoning powers.
NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED as follows:
(1) The Council hereby creates the Jeffersonville Drainage Board to advise
and assist the Jeffersonville Board of Public Works and Safety for the following
purposes:
(A) Overseeing and facilitating implementation of the Plan,
(B)
(C)
Periodically reviewing and updating the Plan,
Seeking funds to finance implementation of the Plan, and"
(D)
matters.
Advising other City boards and commissions concerning drainage
