Whereas, the City Council understands the importance of planning for change and supports the city's effort to foster reasonable growth of the city. The Jeffersonville City Council believes that the Mayor and all other elected officials. share in that same goal. Whereas, the City of Jeffersonville has a new Mayor as well as new City Council members for the 2008 thru 2011 term. Whereas, the issue of annexation of 9,000 residents and thousands of parcels of real estate is of historic importance. Whereas, the City Council, Mayor and Clerk Treasurer elected and serving during the 2008 thru 2011 term will be responsible and obligated to provide services to these newly annexed areas. Whereas, it seems unreasonable for the past Mayor and City Council to require the new City: Council members, Mayor and Clerk Treasurer to undertake this annexation without first allowing them the opportunity to determine if they believe that the city can adequately provide those city services during their tenure. Now therefore be it resolved that: The present City Council, feels more time and energy needs to be devoted to the study of the impact of this large of annexation. Therefore by passage of this resolution we wish to repeal 2007-OR-10. So Resolved this ~"~ day of ]anuary, 2008. Council Members Attested by: Pe99Y Wilder Jefferoonville City Clerk Treasurer Acknowledged By: Thomas R. Galliagan, Mayor ', City of Jeffersonville
