Meeting Memorandum -Tuesday July 31, 2007 - 5:30 P.M.
City Hall Council Conference Room
Council President Keith Fetz called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M., and on call of the
roll those members present were: Councilpersons Keith Fetz, Connie Sellers, Barbara
Wilson, Ed Zastawny, Nathan Samuel, and John Perkins. Also present were Clerk
Treasurer Peggy Wilder, and Chief Deputy Suzy Bass.
2008 BUDGETS
Councilperson Perkins made the motion to move the utilities for the City Building from
the Board of Works Budget to the Building Authority Budget seconded by Councilperson
Grooms and passed unanimously.
Discussion was held on the overtime in the Police Department. Suzy said that there will
be about $15,000.00 in overtime spent on security at the Aquatic Center and Skate Park.
She will ask Assistant Chief Lovan to bill the Parks Dept after the pool closes. Mike
Smith said that overtime is usually offered by seniority unless there is a specialization
need.
Clerk Treasurer Wilder introduced the Budget Calendar. Workshops are set up for
August 6, 7, 8 and 9 at 5:30 We still have no figures from the State, therefore, there is not
a lot that the Council can do at this time.
The fountain will be dedicated at 5:00 P.M. on Monday August 6, with a workshop at
5:30 with the Council and the Parks Board and then the Police have a demonstration on
laptops and software. Councilperson Grooms arrived at 6:40 P.M.
A proposal for the creation of a new position for an Emergency Management Director
was presented.
